Every child deserves a safe place to sleep, nutritious food to eat, access to healthcare, and the opportunity to learn. Yet, for far too many children in South Sudan, these basic rights remain out of reach.

Today, thousands of children continue to live in heartbreaking conditions—sleeping in mud, sheltering under torn tents, going to bed hungry, missing school, and suffering from preventable illnesses. Behind every statistic is a child with dreams, potential, and the right to a better future.

As Act For Kids South Sudan (AFKSS), we are deeply concerned that childhood is being overshadowed by conflict, displacement, poverty, and neglect. No child should have to endure such hardship while hoping the world will notice.

We call upon the Government of South Sudan, humanitarian partners, the private sector, communities, and all people of goodwill to work together to protect and invest in our children. Their welfare must remain a national priority.

Children are not just the future of South Sudan—they are its present. When we protect, educate, and empower them today, we build a stronger, more peaceful nation tomorrow.

Together, let us act with compassion, urgency, and responsibility. Every child matters. Every child deserves hope.

Rumbek Senior must remain as Rumbek Senior.

Rumbek Senior Secondary School is not just a learning institution. It is a symbol of history, identity, and pride for generations of South Sudanese. Its legacy must be preserved and respected.

Therefore, the government should facilitate the development of Rumbek University of Science and Technology in a different location rather than allocating the premises of Rumbek Senior Secondary School to the university.

Both institutions are important, but progress should not come at the cost of erasing history. A balanced approach will ensure that Rumbek Senior continues its legacy while the university is given adequate space to grow and thrive for the benefit of future generations.
