We specialize in behavior modification, off-leash freedom & obedience. K9G Akron dog training for happy, well-behaved dogs! K9 Guide Dog Training is a family-run dog training company in Bath, Ohio, serving Akron, Medina, and the surrounding Northeast Ohio area. With over 30 years of experience, owner and training director Yana Allport and her team offer board and train programs, in-home private lessons, puppy training, and a hybrid program that combines both. We specialize in obedience, off-leash reliability, and behavior modification for dogs of all breeds, ages and temperaments. Our approach centers on teaching owners alongside their dogs, so the results last well beyond the program - and every client gets lifetime training support! Training takes place on a dedicated 4-acre property built for focused, real-world work.

Barking at the window. Lunging on the leash. Herding the kids by the ankles. Shadowing you to the bathroom. π

We also want to welcome Yeti to K9 Guide - his owners are repeat clients after having their dog Drax trained with Yana Allport 5 years ago. They drove all the way from Michigan to get little Yeti trained too!

A peek into our personal life - Jimmie doing Dad Things on the first day of 2026.
Yana was born in Russia, where they celebrate New Years with gifts and "Christmas trees" and "Ded Moroz" (the Russian version of Santa!). So these lucky kids get to open presents up both on the American Christmas and our Russian New Year's! Lucky, that is, until they realize it's the same amount of presents... only split between two days π€
I want to take this moment to thank our clients for supporting a small family business. We care for your dogs just like we do our own. Every dollar made supports Collin, Jimmie, and I. To a little girl who's excited to get Hello Kitty slippers and a little boy who can't wait to play with his first microscope.
Happy New Years, friends. I'm forever grateful.
- Yana

π Holiday plans are coming up fast - and that means it's time to book K9 Guide boarding for your dog!
If you're a K9 Guide client and know you'll be traveling for the holidays, now is the time to reserve space. Our boarding spots are limited so we can keep things calm, clean, and structured for the dogs in our care during the busy holiday season.
Boarding with us is also a great way for your dog to get a refresher on their obedience skills while you're away - keeping manners sharp and routines consistent.
Contact us to check dates and book your dog's holiday stay with K9 Guide!
