Not every SF6 job lets you bring a full-sized service cart in a dedicated van.

Synecom's Portable Line covers recovery, evacuation, filtration and refilling in modules light enough to transport in a passenger car and carry by hand to the compartment. That matters on uneven sites, in tight spaces, and anywhere the gas compartment is small enough that a full cart is more machine than the job needs.

The modules work as one system:

Vacuum. The CAR110-01 SF6 vacuum and CAR111-01 air vacuum reach below 1 mbar absolute, against the 5 mbar IEC 62271-4:2022 calls for.

Filtration. The ACC101-05 portable filter removes moisture, particulate and decomposition by-products including SO2, HF and H2S.

Recovery and refilling. The CAR109-02 oil-free compressor handles gas to 50 bar.

Connections. Synecom helium leak tests the couplings and internal fittings across the line. Helium molecules are smaller than SF6, so a joint that passes helium testing holds SF6, including under high pressure.

Control. The ACC110-01 panel ties the modules together, so recovery, filling, filtration and evacuation run from one point instead of being reconnected between steps.

Gas accounting. The SCA101-01 Bluetooth scale tracks weight to ±10 g, giving you the records SF6 reporting requires.

Buy the module the job needs now. It still works as part of the full system later.

ProgUSA has supplied electrical test equipment to utilities, NETA firms, and industrial users since 2005, with demonstrations, training, and U.S.-based calibration.

50 images in. One report out.

FOTRIC NaviPdM turns a 50 image survey into a single 50 page report, in your format, with your logo on it. Built on the camera, before the technician leaves site.

No wireless needed either. Everything moves by SD card behind your firewall, which keeps IT happy.

One license. Every other FOTRIC tool is free.

NaviPdM is the only FOTRIC software that costs anything. Buy it once, enable it on the camera, then install the PC software on as many machines as you like. AnalyzIR, MagicThermal and IRExplore cost nothing.

Priced per camera, not per seat, so the whole office can open the same inspection data.

Most of an infrared inspection is not the inspecting.

It is the part afterward: naming assets, retyping notes, checking readings against limits, and building the report. FOTRIC puts that at roughly 90 percent of an inspector's time.

NaviPdM moves it onto the camera. Measurement boxes populate on assets you have shot before, the pass/fail check runs on the spot, and the report is written before you leave site.

Transformer oil is where most people meet vacuum oil purification, but the process applies to a much wider range of fluids.

Enervac's high-vacuum systems dehydrate and degasify electrical insulating liquids including transformer oil, polybutene, and silicone fluids. The same process degasifies cable oils and reaches beyond electrical work too, into phosphate esters, vacuum pump sealing oils, refrigeration oils, and brake fluids.

The process removes free and soluble water, dissolved air and gases, and particulate matter. System sizes range from custom semi-trailer-mounted units down to a portable hand-cart unit for smaller jobs.

GIS breaker testing without removing a single ground.

DV Power's new Both Sides Grounded (BSG) method lets crews measure timing and contact resistance on gas-insulated switchgear with both grounds connected the whole time. Safer procedure, faster outage window, no setup changes.

We wrote up how it works and posted the full application note here: https://www.progusa.net/bsg-testing-for-gis-circuit-breakers

Power Quality Monitoring and NFPA 70B: The Blind Spot 08/21/2026

"Everything looked fine at the last inspection."

That is what we hear after most transformer failures. And it is usually true, which is exactly the problem with a maintenance program built entirely on snapshots.

NFPA 70B is a standard now, not a recommended practice. Chapter 9 sorts equipment into condition levels and ties your maintenance intervals to them. You can adjust those intervals based on risk, but where a deviation extends an interval, the deviation and its justification have to be documented.

Visual inspections, thermal scans and insulation resistance tests are all good, and they all measure a single moment you happened to choose. The condition framework is built around drift over time, and drift needs a continuous record.

We wrote up what continuous power quality monitoring adds to a condition file, why IEC 61000-4-30 Class A measurement matters when your data has to hold up under challenge, and where to start.

The CHK Miro-F is the unit we recommend for it. Class A certified, gapless logging, IP66, cellular built in, and an optional I/O module so DGA and bushing data sit on the same time axis as the electrical record.

We have supplied test equipment to utilities, NETA firms and industrial customers since 2005, and we have power quality engineers on staff who can help you make sense of what the monitor sends back.

Tap changer contact problems can be difficult to identify from a static measurement. The transition itself can reveal what is happening while the contacts move.

DV Power's TWA500 is a three-phase winding resistance meter and tap changer analyzer, delivering up to 25 A DC for winding resistance testing. Dynamic resistance measurement (DRM) checks the moving contacts during transition, measuring transition time and detecting open circuits and other faults at a 0.1 ms sampling rate, alongside tap changer motor current to catch mechanical issues.

Testing all three phases from one connection cuts the work sharply. On a 33-position tap changer, that means 33 measurements instead of 99. Automated test mode runs the sequence without operator input, with three-phase automatic demagnetization built into the workflow.

A vacuum interrupter can lose its vacuum and give no outward sign, right up until it fails to interrupt. The way to confirm the bottle still holds is to test its dielectric strength directly.

The HIPOTRONICS 7BT60 is a 60 kV AC dielectric tester built for vacuum interrupters in switchgear. It raises voltage to a preset level at a selectable rate of 500 or 3000 V/s, holds it for a set duration, then returns to zero, confirming whether the vacuum gap withstands.

Automatic testing with a dwell timer runs the sequence the same way every time. A memory kilovoltmeter records the breakdown voltage if the bottle fails, a failure indicator lamp flags it on the panel, and adjustable output sets the test voltage each bottle calls for. The unit is self-contained and built for field use.

ProgUSA has supplied electrical test equipment to utilities, NETA firms, and industrial users since 2005, with demonstrations, training, and U.S.-based calibration.

Battery banks get checked on a schedule. A cell that weakens the week after an inspection can drift for months before the next check finds it.

The EMSYS CellSPY closes that gap. It is a permanent monitor that watches every cell in the bank continuously, not just at inspection intervals.

CellSPY reports DC voltage, AC ripple voltage, resistance and temperature around the clock, with temperature measured at every negative post. A weakening cell shows up in the data as it changes.

Available wired or wireless, with onboard DNP3 on the wired system. Utilities, switchgear, telecom and data centers, wherever the bank has to perform the moment it is called on.

CellSPY is now available through ProgUSA.
