The Rugged Journey
Helping men transform pain into purpose through healing, brotherhood, and story.
MATADOR MEN’S RETREAT | NOVEMBER 13–15
Ten men. One weekend. Space to escape the noise, build real community, and share your story honestly.
This year’s Matador Men’s Retreat is about connection — connecting the head and the heart and becoming a stronger, more integrated man.
No fixing. No performing. No pretending to have it all figured out.
Just good food, meaningful experiences, honest conversation, and intentional time with other men at the historic Matador Ranch.

This fall, The Rugged Journey is offering two opportunities for men to step out of isolation and engage their stories in honest community.
Beginning September 8, we’ll work through Make Sense of Your Story by Adam Young. On September 10, a second group begins Men’s Work by Connor Beaton—focused on facing what we often avoid and developing the skills of self-leadership.

Only 2 spots are remaining for the Red River Mountain Men's Retreat (August 7–9).
This isn't about escaping life for a weekend. It's about stepping away long enough to hear yourself again.
Over three days in the mountains, you'll slow down, reflect on your story, and have honest conversations with a small group of men who are committed to authenticity—not performance.
If you've been carrying more than you've had space to process, this may be the right time.

We invite you to come to the men’s mountain retreat in Red River, New Mexico, so "You can begin to recover your soul, disentangled from the tragedies of this broken world, and discover the restorative power of beauty," which we will discover in the wildness of nature, the honesty of community, and the hope of healing and transformation.

Most men don't lack acquaintances—they lack deep friendship.
The kind of friendship where you're known, challenged, encouraged, and able to show up without pretending.
That's becoming increasingly rare, but it doesn't have to stay that way.
At The Rugged Journey Men's Mountain Retreat in Red River, you'll spend a weekend with a small group of men exploring what authentic brotherhood can look like. If you've been walking alone, this may be the invitation you've been waiting for.

One of the questions we hear most is, "Is The Rugged Journey a religious group?"
The answer is both yes and no.
Men from all backgrounds are welcome because what we believe every man needs first isn't agreement—it's a place where he can be honest. A place where he doesn't have to perform, posture, or have all the answers.
At The Rugged Journey, we create space for men to share their stories authentically, without judgment or someone trying to fix them. From that foundation, real growth can happen—in your faith, your relationships, your purpose, and your life.
Authenticity comes first. Everything else grows from there.
