Sometimes getting to the river takes a little rope, a sturdy tree, and some teamwork. Hereās a behind-the-scenes look at working a Stryker down the bankābecause the adventure starts before the boat even hits the water.
This is part of what we love about running inflatable boats in Alaska. Remote rivers, creative logistics, and a whole lot of country to explore.

THREE YEARS OF PLANNING. HOURS LEFT TO SAVE THE HUNT.
The call came from the airport. A local transport companyās boat had gone down, and one of their customers was scrambling to find another way into the Alaska bush. His trip was about to start, and three years of planning were hanging in the balance.
We didnāt have a boat availableābut we started making calls.
While he was in the air, we got a Stryker built and rigged for the trip. Once it was ready, our crew delivered it to Fairbanks. From there, he headed up the Dalton Highway with his new ride and a hunt that was back on track.
These photos tell the next chapter: a boat loaded with gear, miles of Alaska ahead, and the chance to put those three years of planning into action.
A week later, he called again. He wanted to return the boat early.
MOOSE HUNT SUCCESSFUL.
We sent our delivery crew back to Fairbanks to pick up the boat, and he headed home with a story worth telling.
Helping hunters through last-minute curveballs has become a theme this season at Alaska Wild Rentals. From finding a boat when everything is booked to getting customers running again after a breakdown, we do everything we can to get you on the water and keep your trip moving.
Thereās a lot behind every hunt: time off, travel, money saved, and sometimes years of planning. Weāre proud we could come through when this one was on the line.
Got a trip coming up? Planned well ahead or down to the wire, give us a call. Weāll do our best to make it happen.

Four hunters. Two Stryker jet boats. FOUR BULLS. š«š«š«š«
This is what a successful DIY Alaska moose hunt can look like!
The trip started with two Alaska Wild Rentals Stryker jet boats packed down and shipped to St. Maryās aboard Lynden Air Cargo. When the four-man crew flew in, they picked up their cargo, headed for the river, and assembled the boats in the field. What arrived as freight was now their transportation into moose country. āļøš¤
From there, they set out to hunt off the Yukon Riverāand this crew got it done. Four hunters filled four tags, putting both boats to work on a hunt theyāll be talking about for years.
Anyone who has packed out a moose knows pulling the trigger is only the beginning. Four bulls meant some serious work! But after the heavy lifting, the guys even found time to wet a line and catch a few Arctic grayling. A pretty sweet way to finish a successful hunt. š£
With their animals processed and the trip wrapped up, they broke the boats back down and shipped them home to Alaska Wild Rentals in Anchorage.
Two boats that could travel as air cargo helped make the whole trip possible. Proud to have been part of this crewās Alaska adventure! š¤

Anybody can rent you a boat. What happens when something goes wrong 227 miles from Anchorage?
During his moose hunt, one of our customers struck a rock and damaged the jet. He had the replacement parts and tools, but couldnāt complete the repair himself in the field.
He reached us by satellite phoneāand we went to work.
Our crew traveled roughly 171 miles from Anchorage to Lake Louise, launched the repair boat, then ran another 56 miles across the lake system to reach him near the mouth of the Susitna River.
Thatās approximately 227 miles one wayāand more than 450 miles round trip.
Within 24 hours of his call, our crew was on-site. We replaced the damaged parts in the field, got the boat running again, and put the customer back in the hunt.
Hunt delayed. Hunt saved.
Remote Alaska is hard on equipment. We canāt promise every location will be reachable, but when access and conditions allow, Alaska Wild Rentals will dispatch a repair crew and make the run.
We donāt just rent boats. We support the mission.

āļø ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. ADVENTURE GUARANTEED. š«š„
This is what a real Alaska fly-out hunt looks like.
No boat launch.
No road access.
No trailer waiting at the destination.
Just a small plane, a remote lake somewhere deep in the Alaska bushāand an entire boat package broken down and loaded aboard.
Boat. Motor. Fuel system. Floors. Pump. Tools. Hunting gear.
Everything has to fit. Everything has to fly. And when those tires touch down, the hunters become the assembly crew.
Theyāll unload beside the lake, inflate the boat, install the floor, mount the Mercury, connect the fuelāand turn a pile of equipment into their transportation for the hunt.
Then the plane takes off.
The sound disappears.
And itās just them, the boat, and miles of untouched Alaska wilderness.
This is exactly why we built Alaska Wild Rentals: to help hunters reach places most people will never see.
Another boat headed into the bush.
Another hunt officially underway.

Some Alaska adventures begin at a boat launch.
This one begins on a freight pallet.
These two complete jet-boat packages were broken down, packed, wrapped and delivered to air cargoābound for a remote location in Western Alaska where the roads end long before the adventure begins.
The next time these boats are unwrapped, theyāll be hundreds of miles away, surrounded by wild country and assembled in the field by hunters preparing to reach places few people ever see.
Thatās the reality of hunting remote Alaska. Sometimes getting the boat to the river is an adventure all by itself.
At Alaska Wild Rentals, we donāt just hand you the keys at the shop. We can help move the equipment to where your hunt actually beginsāwhether that means loading boats into a trailer headed for the North Slope or putting complete jet-boat packages onto an airplane bound for Western Alaska.
Two more boats are in the air.
Another remote hunt is coming to life.
And somewhere far beyond the road system, an Alaska river is waiting. š«āļøš„
Wherever the adventure begins, weāll find a way to help you get there.

Moose season doesnāt begin when the r***e comes outāit begins late at night, under trailer lights, with a crew determined to get every last piece of gear loaded and ready.
Last night, we packed two Alaska Wild Rentals jet boats into this trailer and sent them north toward the North Slope. While most of Alaska was sleeping, these boats were beginning a long journey toward wild rivers, remote country and the kind of adventure hunters spend all year dreaming about.
Thereās something different in the air this time of year. The nights get darker, trucks are loaded down, boats start heading north and months of planning finally become real.
Soon, these jet boats will be far from pavementārunning shallow water, carrying hunters and gear into country most people will never see.
This is Alaska.
This is moose season.
And itās officially underway. š«š„
Safe travels, good luck and hunt hard!
