Reminder to enroll in College Mentors!📣

College Mentors for Kids (CM4K) starts back up on Thursday, September 24th!

If you are interested in enrolling your student in this mentor program, please scan the QR code in the flyer above or go to www.collegementors.org/enroll

CM4K is a free mentor program through Anderson University for 1st - 5th graders that meets every Thursday after school (CM4K may not meet occasionally due to Anderson Schools' breaks and Anderson University's breaks). Students are bussed to Anderson University to meet with their trained mentors, and can either be picked up by parents/ guardians at Anderson University at 5:35pm or at Anderson Elementary at 5:55pm.

Students with strong, consistent mentorship have been shown to have positive growth in their social/ emotional abilities and their academics. While this is not a tutoring program, this is a great opportunity for our students to grow all around!

In August, Third Grade had the highest attendance rate at 98.4%, and will be celebrated with a special treat. Way to make every day count, Third Graders!

Every single grade level met our schoolwide attendance goal of 95% this past month, so EVERYONE will get extra recess this Friday! Thank you for your commitment towards getting your children to school. It makes a HUGE difference when our kids are routinely in school! 🎉

Our school has a goal for students to be present at least 95% of the school year, which allows each student nine or fewer absences per year. We completely understand that absences will happen, and we ask that families communicate with the school during any absence, but especially during any extenuating circumstances. Call the school at 765-641-2109 with any absence, and ask to speak with the Social Worker if you are struggling to keep your child present in school for any reason.

Research shows that chronic absences by 6th grade are a strong indicator of students being at risk of dropping out of high school. Students who do not graduate high school are 8x more likely to experience incarceration as adults, and students with chronic absences are also at a greater risk for substance abuse and engaging in criminal activity. (This data comes from AttendanceWorks.org and the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office. Chronic Absences are considered 18 or more absences per school year).

Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to your child’s education! We can't do it without you!
