I’ve spent these past 12 months pushing myself hard, chasing goals, working extra, and constantly feeling like I needed to do more, and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. But burnout is real, and I’m realizing that life can’t always be about the next goal, the next accomplishment, or what I can do for everyone else. It’s time to choose myself a little more. More time for the things that bring me happiness, more time for the people and experiences that are meaningful to me, and more time to simply enjoy the life I’ve worked so hard to build. I’m also learning that it’s okay to say NO. You don’t always have to be the “yes girl.” You don’t have to explain yourself, make everyone happy, or constantly put yourself last. Sometimes you have to be a little selfish, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Slowing down doesn’t mean I’m giving up; it means I’m giving myself permission to actually live, not just constantly work toward the next thing.

I still can’t believe this moment actually happened during Dolly’s trip to Wisconsin. There we were out on the water, and just as I hooked the biggest bass of my life, Dolly started strumming her guitar and singing ‘Jolene’ right beside me in the boat! I will cherish every single second of that vacation forever. Rest in peace, Dolly—you were loved beyond measure, and you will be missed terribly.
