Small business owners — this one's for you.
Managing money under pressure isn't a mindset problem. It's a systems problem. Most owners aren't struggling because they lack discipline — they're struggling because no one ever handed them a real process for tracking income, budgeting with purpose, and making decisions when cash flow is tight.
That's what Think Tank Thursdays is built for.
Join me August 27th at 1 PM at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs in Atlanta. We'll get into:
- Building a simple weekly money management system
- Tracking income and expenses in a way that actually informs decisions
- Budgeting with purpose, not guesswork
- Tools and resources to improve cash flow and profitability
You'll walk away with clarity. You'll leave with a plan.
Seats are limited — RSVP at moneymate.io/events to save your spot.

A financial literacy standard on the books doesn't teach a single class.
The gap between the requirement and the delivery is where most schools are sitting right now, heading into a new year with the same standard and the same resourcing constraint as last year.
Money Moves closes that gap with a workshop your school can schedule this semester — no new curriculum to build, no new class to staff.
Let's close that gap this year. DM us to talk timing.

Most financial literacy content is designed to be consumed, not practiced.
Videos, worksheets, and one-off assemblies can raise awareness. They rarely build the muscle of making a financial decision under real constraint, because there's no interactive moment where the student has to choose.
The interactive format is the point. Money Moves puts students inside a scenario where they make the call, see the consequence, and adjust — the same loop that builds real judgment over time.
Bring the interactive workshop to your school. Let's talk.

Profitable on paper. Broke by payroll Friday.
That contradiction has taken down more small businesses than any market downturn we've seen. Across 17 years in banking, consulting, and trust services, one pattern kept surfacing: owners waving a strong P&L in one hand while scrambling to cover vendor invoices with the other.
Profit and cash are not the same thing. A P&L tells you what you earned. It does not tell you what you can spend on Monday.
Revenue can be booked before a client pays. Expenses can hit before the invoice clears. Inventory, receivables, and tax obligations quietly sit between "profitable" and "solvent." The gap is where good businesses go under.
Three questions worth answering before the end of the week:
>> How many days of operating cash do you have on hand right now?
>> Which receivables are actually collectable in the next 30 days?
>> If your top client paid 45 days late, would payroll still clear?
If those answers require a spreadsheet safari, that is the real problem to solve. Not next quarter. This week.
Profitability is a scoreboard. Cash flow is the oxygen. Plan for both. đź’ˇ

Most financial tools are rearview mirrors dressed up as dashboards. They show you exactly where your money went. Not where it's going.
That gap is why disciplined business owners still get caught off guard by a slow month, a tax bill, or a cash crunch the data technically could have shown them coming.
Expense trackers log the past. That's useful. It's not a plan.
Elena Colquitt built MoneyMate on a simple premise: most people don't need another expense tracker. They need a strategy.
A strategy looks forward — forecasting next quarter's cash flow, modeling a hire you're considering, and surfacing a shortfall before it hits. It combines your personal and business finances so nothing hides in the blind spot.
Tracking yesterday is the floor. Planning tomorrow is the job.

đź’° Your emergency fund isn't just for emergencies. It's for opportunities.
Too many small business owners think cash reserves are only there for worst-case scenarios.
The truth? A healthy reserve gives you options.
It lets you:
âś… Cover an unexpected expense without relying on debt.
âś… Invest in new equipment when the timing is right.
âś… Take advantage of inventory discounts.
âś… Say yes to growth opportunities with confidence.
âś… Navigate a slow month without panic.
Cash reserves don't just protect your business—they create flexibility.
That's why building reserves isn't about fear. It's about freedom.
At MoneyMate, we believe proactive financial planning helps you prepare for what's next, so you can make decisions from a position of strength instead of stress.
Start building your future before you need it.

Financial literacy is required on paper in most states. It's rarely required in practice.
The standard exists. The classroom time, trained instructors, and real curriculum to deliver it often don't. That's not a knock on any school — it's a resourcing problem, and it's the same one I saw from the inside of the financial system before I started building for it.
Money Moves closes that gap without adding a new subject to the schedule. The workshop is built to slot into existing math, econ, or advisory periods and deliver the applied skills the standard already asks for.
If your school has the requirement but not the resourcing, let's talk about a workshop.

A budget isn't a guess. It's a plan.
A good budget is built on data, not hope — which means it only works if you actually look at it. Set once and forgotten, it drifts. Reviewed regularly, it protects your profit.
MoneyMate reconciles automatically, and flags anything it missed so you're never guessing whether a number is current.

The budget isn’t the problem.
The habit is.
Most people know what to do with money.
Very few do it consistently.
That’s exactly what we’re tackling at Think Tank Thursdays.
I’m joining the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs on August 27th at 1PM to lead a hands-on budgeting workshop — Managing Your Money Weekly: A Practical Budgeting Workshop.
No theory. No fluff.
Just a real system you can run every single week.
If you’re a founder, a professional, or just someone who’s ready to stop winging it — this seat is for you.
