I was talking to my friend recently about how I hadn’t felt like I’d heard God’s voice in a while. I kept telling myself I needed to improve, do more, and work harder on myself.
As I broke down a situation involving a guy, I kept questioning what I could’ve done differently. My friend told me , “You weren’t the problem.”
Should I have payed attention to the red flags?ABSOLUTELY
In the same instant I realized I’ve spent so much of my life believing I was always the one who needed to do better. I accepted people for who they were, understanding that we’re all growing but, I never gave myself that same grace.
Then I realized I desired approval from those who didn’t take the time to know me the way I took the time to know them (YUCCCCKKKK) .
Ofc in the middle of all my overthinking, I felt Gods answer and this man saidddddd:
“Be still. You are enough.
There is no more work you need to do on yourself right now.
That doesn’t mean stop moving completely. It means slow down.
Take in the blessings I’ve already given you. Look at where you were five years ago compared to where you are now. Appreciate the people who genuinely love and accept you. And most importantly, learn to accept yourself.
Give yourself grace to simply be you, and leave everything else up to Me.”
I S**T YOU NOT…..I started crying.
Because how often do we keep raising the bar for ourselves without ever stopping to appreciate the distance we’ve already traveled?
How can you ever allow yourself grace to see your progress if you’re constantly moving the finish line?
Maybe growth isn’t always about becoming more.
Maybe sometimes growth is learning to be still long enough to realize you’ve already become so much.
