📢One Year Later: The Lasting Impact of The Hyundai Raid

On September 4, 2025 ICE carried out the largest workplace raid in United States history. This happened at the Hyundai supplier plant in Ellabell, GA where they kidnapped 475 community members from their jobs in the middle of the day. The Hyundai raid has left a wound in many families and fear within the community. During the raid we had families ripped apart, neighbors, and friends taken and put into cages.

Almost a year later and we still feel and see the impact this has made on us all. Members in our communities live in fear everyday and they make decisions no one should. Decisions on if going to work is safe, if it is better to keep their children home from school, and if urgent medical care is worth the risk of being kidnapped or killed by the hands of ICE.

Since the start of Migrant Equity SouthEast six years ago, we have dedicated ourselves to helping communities all throughout Coastal and South Georgia. During this administration, it is important that our communities have access to food and other resources so they can live their lives as normally as possible, despite the chaos surrounding them.

Join us one year later to remember the Hyundai raid, reflect on its lasting impact, and stand in solidarity with immigrant communities.

The Creative Catalyst Fellowship supports individual artists whose work engages the public on critical issues facing Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) and can serve as a catalyst for civic participation. Selected artists join a cohort convened for peer sharing and learning, with access to communications consultation and promotion of their final work.

Up to eight artists will each receive $30,000 to produce work with the potential to break through to broader audiences and spark conversation around this year’s theme: Belonging.

Belonging is a sense of community, home, agency, and the essential right for our communities to flourish. It is a counterweight to racism and violence, and it advances a vision of inclusion that recognizes the ways AAPI communities have shaped and contributed to this country.

Art speaks to us, feels our pain, paints our dreams, and opens our minds in profound new ways. Our goal is to give independent artists the resources and freedom to do their art, in a way that also lets us put that art to work in the world.

The Chopstix for Charity Grants Program seeks to fund not-for-profit organizations that provide services or benefits to Asian and Pacific Islander communities in metro Atlanta. We have a particular interest in funding organizations or projects that directly engage members of the Asian and Pacific Islander community in making transformative, positive change within their own community.♥️
