We can’t improve health for everyone if our healthcare providers don’t know how to treat patients with disabilities.
At Emory, I offered Disability Cultural Competence in the Clinic to medical students, nurses, pediatricians, and bioethicists. Now I am offering it to you.
If you are a medical student, medical school professor, doctor, nurse, or healthcare administrator, we can change this together.

Hey y'all! 👋
I'm giving a workshop on December 11th and you're invited!
It's called Leveraging YOU and it's all about the parts of ourselves we hide at work — thinking they're weaknesses or "too personal" — when actually, they're our biggest strengths.
We will talk about finding those hidden strengths in the stuff we usually keep quiet about. Your mental health journey. Being a caregiver. Your body. Your background. The experiences that shaped you.
December 11th, 2025 | Doors at 6 pm, start at 6:30 pm, out by 8 pm | The Intown Retreat in Decatur, 102 Church St, Decatur, GA 30030
Snacks & drinks on me. $30 sliding scale (pay what you can, seriously). Open to anyone.

Let me know if you have questions!
Accurate and efficient communication is essential for any organization, yet we rarely have proactive discussions on how to communicate effectively within our teams.
Consider the specifics:
- When are emails the best choice?
- When should we opt for in-person meetings, virtual meetings, or Slack messages?
- How do we address one another in these communications?
- How can we prevent interpersonal relationships from affecting the interpretation of text-based messages?
Every team has the potential to enhance communication. How are you approaching this important issue? Feel free to share your thoughts below!

Excited to see ’s op-ed in print in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution!
The piece explores what happens when we move beyond the DEI debate to focus on what every leader actually wants: engaged, innovative teams that drive business results.
Whether you call it DEI or not, the fundamentals remain the same—understanding your team, improving policies that create barriers, and intentionally designing culture that helps everyone contribute their best work.
The piece is behind a paywall, but AJC has a great deal right now—99 cents for 3 months. Supporting local journalism that covers these important workplace conversations matters for our community. Link in bio

✨ Reinvigorated. Reconnected. Recommitted.
This week at the RISE Women in Health Care Leadership Summit, I had the honor of speaking alongside the brilliant Nicole Barney-Evans, MSW, MBA on a topic that’s close to both our hearts: health equity and DEI in healthcare.
We talked about how systemic inequities don’t just show up in policies—but in culture, access, and everyday interactions between providers and patients. And how we, as leaders, can design better, from the inside out.
But what struck me just as powerfully?
The incredible women I met—bold, visionary, doing the hard and often invisible work to make their teams, orgs, and systems more inclusive, more competent, more just.
💡 I’m leaving this summit deeply energized to keep building what I call Universal Design for Excellence—a framework for designing health organizational cultures that remove barriers to care, equity, and belonging before they even arise.
Healthcare doesn’t just need policy change. It needs culture architecture.
If you’re working on that in your space, I’d love to connect. Let’s share resources, insights, and bold ideas.
