Dear Members,
I am excited to share that Jennifer Brogdon has been selected to serve as GPHSA’s new Executive Director.
Many of you already know Jennifer; she served as GPHSA’s most recent President until her retirement in May and has long been involved with GPHSA.
She has also served in a variety of roles with DFCS, from case manager to supervisor to DFCS Regional Director of Region 3. Her professional experience, combined with her passion and commitment to GPHSA, makes her the ideal choice to advance GPHSA’s important work across the state. We are excited for all that is ahead for GPHSA under her leadership.
Please join me in welcoming her to her new role. I’m sure you will be hearing from her soon, as she is anxious to get started in her new role.
Sincerely,
Susan
Wishing you all a safe and fun Holiday!!

From our current Executive Director, Susan Boatwright:
GPHSA Members:
I am writing to let you know of my intention to resign as Executive Director of GPHSA, once a new Executive Director is identified. I've been thinking this over for the past several months, and I feel that the time is right for me to step down and for the association to seek a new Executive Director.
Serving as your Executive Director has been a privilege, and I remain committed to envisioning and creating the best future for the association. It is my belief that the new Executive Director's primary focus, without any distractions, should be on recruiting new members and ensuring that current members are supported. To that end, I have offered to stay on in a reduced capacity to continue our legislative advocacy and serve as GPHSA’s liaison to the State of Hope initiative for as long as the new Executive Director needs.
With the board's approval, recruitment for a new Executive Director will begin asap. Please share the opportunity and job description with anyone you think would be a good candidate.
Thank you for all of the support you've given me over the past four years - I look forward to continuing our work together in a different capacity.
Sincerely,
Susan
Link to the job description and application details will be in the comments, and also available at www.gphsa.org.

As many of you may know, GPHSA President Jennifer Brogdon has announced her retirement effective June 1st. Last week, the GPHSA board accepted her letter of resignation as President and voted to appoint President-elect Torrey Love as interim President for the remainder of the term, which ends on October 31st.
Jennifer has faithfully served GPHSA for many years, including the past two years as President and previously as President-Elect. Throughout her leadership, she has been a dedicated advocate for strengthening and advancing our organization. Jennifer led innovative efforts to recruit new members, expand engagement, and bring greater structure and purpose to GPHSA’s committees.
Torrey intends to continue the efforts to strengthen GPHSA that Jennifer initiated and to look for ways to recruit new members while offering meaningful support to current members.
Please join us in welcoming Torrey and thanking Jennifer for her years of service, leadership, and commitment to DHS/DFCS and to GPHSA.
Congratulations, Jennifer, on your well-earned retirement!

GPHSA MEMBERS:
Thank you for your advocacy in contacting your legislators - many of you let me know that you reached out to them, and it paid off. I'm happy to report that the final amended budget agreed upon by the House and Senate includes the full $2,000 supplement. The budget has been forwarded to the Governor for signature with no anticipated changes to be made.
The supplemental budget ends June 30, 2026, which means it is reasonable to expect the supplement on or before the closeout of FY26 at the end of July. I feel confident that DHS will send clarification in the near future on when employees can expect to receive the supplement.
Thank you again for your efforts.
