Today is National Bake It Yourself Day, and the Wonderfully Made bakery is the perfect place to celebrate! 🍪 Around here, baking is about so much more than just the cookies. It's a chance to spend time together cultivating community! If you ask us, every day is a great day to bake.

A little bit of yoga, plenty of games and lots of time in the bakery... our interns did it all this summer! They joyfully jumped right into life at Wonderfully Made, and it was so much fun watching them get to know our Wonder Makers and participate in cultivating our community.

We are named Wonderfully Made for many reasons, one being our handmade cookies! We have chocolate chip, gluten-free cinnamon toffee and everything in between, because we want to make sure there's a flavor everyone will love.

Join us in The Lodge at Peachtree Church on 8/25 at 6 PM for a meeting to learn more about how you can get involved, whether that's in a room full of music, playing bingo or anywhere else we need an extra pair of hands. Games are a big deal for our Wonder Makers, and not just because they are fun (though they definitely are). When they're strategizing over UNO or calling out bingo numbers, adults with I/DD are building cognitive stimulation and social connection. They're also making their own calls, playing their own hands and enjoying the independence that comes with it. A win for one of us is a win for all of us!

Meet Sophie! She gets our Wonder Makers moving, whether on the mat teaching yoga or bringing classic moves in karate! Her mom introduced her to the program, and ever since she has been shining on our community this summer while strengthening her own faith.

At Wonderfully Made, we love expressing our creativity in many different ways, and one of our absolute favorites is drawing OURSELVES! Creating a self portrait is a powerful way for adults with I/DD to explore self-identity and creative expression. It helps communicate feelings that might be hard to put into words while actively building motor, cognitive and self-advocacy skills. We love seeing our Wonder Makers' personalities shine through in every piece of art they create! 🎨
