Spent Thursday and Friday with Rev. John Merk, cherished friend, fellow musician and fantastic bread baker, in preparation for the Institute's offering this season, "BREAD of LIFE."
We were taking soild samples at Tuesday Morrow to find a site for an upcoming EARTH OVEN BUILD.
In the weeks of this season (Lent), we'll be talking about BREAD, REAL BREAD, and COMMUNITY. Stay tuned!
How would you like to bake your own loaf in an outdoor earth oven?
"There is nothing....nothing like the smell of a fresh loaf of bread coming out of the oven.....in the middle of the woods."- John Merk

We had a wonderful visit with the Staff at Camp Glisson at the House in the Woods, hosted by "Aunt Mary", with lunch of Hobo Dinners prepared by her and Singing on Aunt Mary's Porch. Each staffer brought a rock. Their names are on these that were made into this cross by Aunt Mary as a remembrance of the occasion. Thanks for all that you all do!

This painting by Bol (c.1659) shows a tight community of people who are sure of their resources. They are in control and they seem pretty powerful. It reminds me of some places I've been lately. Anxiety is about resources and who's in control of how resources are managed. Would you join the club in the picture?

The Institute engages people three ways: First there is individual pastoral consultation with Robert Lanford. This is arranged by referral or by appointment. The number to call is 678-491-7756. It is password protected. Secondly, The Institute engages groups such as a church, leadership team, class, community association. Rob has worked in all settings: large and small. Through consultation it is determined whether an event, a seminar, a leadership consult, or ongoing group is in order. The purpose is to address the systemic realities of a church or other kind of organization, then develop skills to address systemic realities. A consult is arranged by appointment via the above number. Thirdly, In Candler Park, there is Little 5@5 event each week in which the creative contrapuntality of building creative community is demonstrated in a fun, nurturing, and entertaining way. Fees for individual or organizational work are arranged with Rob Lanford. 5@5 is Free (but donations for musicians/costs are accepted in the "fishbowl")
