Butts Acting Guild

🇺🇸 On September 11, we remember not only the tragedy, but also the extraordinary acts of kindness that followed.

When U.S. airspace was closed on September 11, 2001, 38 planes carrying nearly 7,000 passengers were diverted to the small town of Gander, Newfoundland.

Almost overnight, the people of Gander and the surrounding communities opened their schools, churches, homes — and hearts — to thousands of complete strangers.

They provided food, clothing, beds, showers, medicine, transportation, phones to call home, and perhaps most importantly, comfort at a moment when the world felt frightening and uncertain.

That remarkable true story became the Broadway musical Come From Away — a show about one of the darkest days in our history, but also about the very best of humanity.

If you have never seen Come From Away, we encourage you to see it. (It’s currently available on AppleTV.) It is funny, heartbreaking, uplifting, and a powerful reminder that even in the midst of unimaginable tragedy, ordinary people can choose extraordinary kindness.

And we are incredibly excited and honored to bring this show to our community next year.

🎭 Cast Spotlight: Meet Isaiah! 🎭

Today we're shining the spotlight on the youngest member of our Singin' in the Rain cast — 12-year-old Isaiah Klicko! Don't let his age fool you: Isaiah is tackling one of the show's meatiest roles, the scene-stealing, wisecracking Cosmo Brown.

Cosmo is the heart (and comic relief) of the show — from "Make 'Em Laugh" to his loyal friendship with Don Lockwood, it's a role that demands big energy, sharp timing, and serious stage presence. Isaiah's bringing all three, and rehearsals have been full of laughs because of him.

🌟 **Meet Miss Veleta LaPrade — Our Cast's Shining Star!** 🌟

They say age is just a number, and at 91 years young, Veleta LaPrade is living proof! Making her stage debut with our Singin' in the Rain, Jr/Sr cast, Miss Veleta shows up to every single rehearsal prepared, enthusiastic, and with that unmistakable smile that lights up the room.

Ask her to try something new, learn a new step, or jump into a scene — she says yes every time, with grace and gusto to match cast members a fraction of her age.

And that's the magic of this cast — with our youngest performer just 12 years old and Miss Veleta leading the way at 91, we've got nearly 80 years of talent, heart, and pure joy for the stage all in one show!

Miss Veleta, you inspire all of us. Here's to your dazzling stage debut — you've earned every bit of the spotlight! 💛🎭
