Giving Kitchen
Provides emergency assistance to food service workers via financial support & community resources.
As a former food service worker, Mike Jordan knows firsthand just how much food service workers give to their communities.
โThey are some of the best and hardest working people.โ
This September 25, join Mike and Giving Kitchen in celebrating the people who serve us every day. ๐๐งก
Weโre so grateful to have Mike as part of Giving Kitchenโs mission. Heโs not only helping us celebrate National Food Service Worker Day, but also joining us as emcee for Forkside Seats on November 1 and our spring Team Hidi event. Weโre lucky to have his voice, his energy, and his love for Atlantaโs food service community alongside us.
Thank a food service worker in person, share your gratitude, and help us make sure they know just how much they matter.

For food service workers, financial hardship can quickly mean difficult choices. One recent study found that 3 in 5 food service workers have skipped meals to save money. (Instant Financial, 2026)
September is , and itโs an important reminder that food insecurity can look different for everyone.
At Giving Kitchen, we help food service workers through crisis with Financial Assistance for essential living expenses and our Stability Network, which connects workers to local community resources like food banks and housing support.
And we know this support matters: 72% of Giving Kitchen clients say financial assistance helped prevent them from having to skip meals to save money.

For Chef Archna, Chef & Owner of Tandoori Pizza and Wing Company and Bhojanic, the restaurant industry represents something powerful: opportunity. ๐๐งก
โIt is the only industry where you can start out at the very bottom and end up owning restaurants of your own. It doesnโt matter what your accent is. It doesnโt matter what language you speak. Itโs what you do for work and how you perform.โ
Archna has seen that opportunity firsthand, watching people who once arrived in Atlanta with very little go on to lead her restaurants.
Thatโs what makes food service so special. Itโs an industry built on people, hard work, second chances, growth, and the belief that thereโs always somewhere to go next.
This September 25, weโre celebrating the people who make this industry what it is.
This is our day. Celebrate your people. Show up for food service workers.

For Dr. Effie Richardson (.dakrnola), Managing Partner and Co-Owner of Dakar Nola in New Orleans, supporting food service workers is about more than giving back. Itโs about providing relief, joy, and stability to the people who spend their days creating special moments and experiences for others. ๐๐งก
โGiving Kitchenโs work is very important, and itโs actually essential. You are impacting people in an emotional way that is meaningful. So why not have opportunities and access and dedicated services for those individuals who are contributing to special moments and experiences for people?โ
Thatโs what makes this mission so powerful. Food service workers show up for all of us, and Giving Kitchen is here to show up for them when they need it most.

Summer may be winding down, but for food service workers, some of the biggest earning moments of the year are still happening. โ๏ธ
Labor Day weekend is a reminder to celebrate the people who have been working hard all summer long to make our gatherings, celebrations and nights out possible. For many food service workers, busy seasons can also mean long hours, added stress and a lot to carry.
Thatโs why checking in on each other matters, especially when things get busy.
This summer, in Savannah hosted a Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) training for , giving their team tools to recognize when someone may be struggling and know how to respond.
And weโre incredibly grateful for the businesses, chefs, fundraisers and community partners who found their own ways to spread the Giving Kitchen mission this summer. From and creating The Giving Pop, to , and bringing people together around the table, these moments turned summer gatherings into opportunities to give back. ๐งก๐
Because supporting food service workers isnโt just about saying thank you. Itโs about creating workplaces and communities where people look out for one another, during the busiest shifts and beyond.
Hereโs to a summer of gratitude, the businesses putting that gratitude into action, the fundraisers opening doors to our mission, and the people who make every gathering worth celebrating.
And as we head into Labor Day weekend: Cheers to Summer! Check in. Say thank you. Look out for your people.

Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is Ask For Help.
For food service workers facing a challenge, knowing where to turn can make all the difference.
Through Giving Kitchenโs Stability Network, our case managers connect food service workers to trusted resources in their communities, from housing and utilities to mental health, healthcare, employment and family support.
Because asking for help isnโt a sign of weakness. Itโs a reminder that none of us are meant to navigate hard times alone.
Weโre grateful for the incredible community of organizations that show up for food service workers when they need it most. Their partnership helps make sure that when a worker reaches out, there is a community ready to meet them with support.
Help us spread the word! Share Giving Kitchenโs mission with your network so more food service workers know that help is available, and that they donโt have to face a difficult moment alone. ๐๐งก
