Beyond The Science Podcast
Beyond the Science is a podcast that explores personal stories and challenges in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
We bridge science with real-world experiences to foster inclusion, understanding, and actionable change.
Saturday at the BMBA Summit 2026 is where the depth really shows. ๐ฅ
Ethics. Mentorship. Leadership. Allyship. Representation.
Saturdayโs programming includes Dr. Jon Bailey, with Jordan Gibson, and Melina Gibson, moderating the ethics and mentorship conversation.
Weโll also hear from Dr. Linda LeBlanc, Dr. Anita Li, Adrienne Bradley, and Ryan Jones during The Bridge Builders, moderated by Dr. Bruce Tinor.
And that is only part of the lineup.
This weekend is built around substantive learning, meaningful connection, and conversations that can move the field forward.

Black women in behavior analysis deserve intentional spaces to connect, grow, lead, and build together.
That is exactly what Black Women in Behavior Analysis - BWBA is creating.
Kelly Baird, founder of BWBA, shares more about the organizationโs next chapter, including a new membership community built around connection, support, mentorship, and opportunity.
And during BMBA Summit weekend, that community comes together in person.

We talk a lot about success. We do not talk enough about what it costs.
At the 2026 BMBA Summit, The Things We Donโt Talk About is creating space for the conversations that usually stay behind the scenes.
Featuring Dr. William Hunter, Dr. Ajamu Nkosi, Dr. Jonte Taylor, Anthony Bronaugh, and Vargas Clark, this Thought Exchange will get into the realities behind leadership and professional success:
Sacrifice. Setbacks. Family. Mental health. Identity. Vulnerability. Mentorship. Entrepreneurship. Career challenges. Legacy.
This is not a traditional panel. It is a candid conversation about lessons learned, mistakes made, obstacles navigated, and what it takes to build success while still staying connected to yourself, your relationships, and your community.

What is one part of professional success that you think we do not talk about enough?
08/25/2026
Representation is important. But so is the range of perspectives in the room. ๐ฅ
In Episode 48 of Beyond the Science, we talk about one of the things weโre most excited about for the 2026 BMBA Summit: the depth and diversity of the people bringing their expertise, experiences, and ideas to Atlanta.
From conversations about authenticity and professionalism to leadership, performance, education, scholarship, and the broader impact behavior analysis can have, the goal is not to create a conference where everyone thinks the same.
It is to create a space where different experiences and perspectives can meet, challenge one another, and expand what we believe is possible for the field.
And this is only a glimpse of whatโs coming.

In this episode, weโre talking all things BMBA Summit 2026, including the speakers, sessions, networking, experiences, and the conversations you can expect in Atlanta and virtually.
One of the speakers we highlight is Dr. Jared Van, who returns to the Summit as a keynote speaker with a session focused on Precision Teaching, equity, and behavioral freedom for Black learners and communities.
His keynote, โThe Tools Behavior Analysts Were Never Given,โ explores how Precision Teaching can support meaningful learning while also challenging us to think more critically about assessment, bias, fluency, and independence.
How do we build skills that last, transfer, and create greater freedom?
How do we make sure the tools we use are measuring the learner rather than reproducing bias embedded in the system?
That is the kind of conversation Jared is bringing to the keynote stage.

There was a time when seeing Black men in behavior analysis was rare.
Now, Dr. Barry Daly, the first Black male original certificant to earn the BCBA-D designation, gets to look around the room and see something very different.
As we continue the countdown to the 2026 BMBA Summit, weโre revisiting another powerful moment from last yearโs Beyond the Science Thought Exchange.
In this clip, Dr. Daly reflects on what it means to witness more Black men entering, contributing to, and helping shape the field.
When you understand the history, a room filled with Black men in behavior analysis represents more than attendance.
It represents progress. Possibility. Legacy.
That is part of what makes the BMBA Summit so meaningful.
We are not just filling a room. We are building on the work of those who came before us and creating space for those who will come next.
The BTS Thought Exchange returns this year, and we cannot wait to see that room filled again.

Who gets cited matters. Who gets read matters. And who gets represented in the literature matters too.
As we continue the countdown to the 2026 BMBA Summit, weโre revisiting another important moment from last yearโs Beyond the Science Thought Exchange.
In this clip, the conversation turns to representation in scholarship and the importance of seeing more Black authors, researchers, and perspectives reflected in the literature that helps shape our field.
Representation is not only about who is in the room. It is also about whose ideas are being published, taught, cited, discussed, and carried forward.
The BTS Thought Exchange was created to make room for conversations like this, and it returns this year at the BMBA Summit.
