Alpha Team K9 Search & Rescue

It is with heavy hearts that we share that our teammate and fellow SAR member, Phil, passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Phil was a valued part of our Search and Rescue family, and his loss will be deeply felt by our team and those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

We are grateful for everyone who surrounded Phil and his family with love, prayers, and support throughout this difficult journey.

Please continue to keep his loved ones and our SAR family in your thoughts as we mourn the loss of one of our own.

Mid-air, ears back, and holding her prize like a champ! K9 Sage proves that working hard on the job makes victory laps across the grass feel that much sweeter. 🎉🐾

Mastering the ultimate work-life balance! After working hard and staying focused, it’s time to trade the search path for the pool lanes and enjoy some well-deserved splash time. 🌊🐾

Honoring the bravery, devotion, and unconditional loyalty of the four-legged heroes of September 11th. Steel, rubble, and heartbreak, over 300 search-and-rescue dogs worked tirelessly to locate survivors and offer comfort to first responders.

Their courage at Ground Zero didn't just help a nation heal—it revolutionized working dog training, canine health research, and crisis response for generations to come. 🐾

If we had even half the willpower these dogs have when it comes to ignoring distractions, we’d probably never check our phones or open a snack cupboard again. Pure laser-sharp focus when it matters most!

Our world is made of sights and sounds, but a K9’s world is made entirely of smells! 🗺️👃

While humans rely heavily on our eyes to navigate a search area, an ATSAR search and rescue dog is essentially "seeing" the environment through an incredibly sophisticated olfactory radar. Their noses can even detect the passage of time by how faded a scent has become!

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to hone that natural talent into a life-saving skill, but our pups are always up for the challenge.

The ears are back, the tongue is flying, and the paws are barely touching the ground. There is nothing quite like the unfiltered joy of a pup in full sprint mode. Harper is out here proving that sometimes you just need to drop everything and run like the wind!

Current status: Completely unplugged (except for my Kindle) and hiding out in the woods. The dogs are tracking, training, and working hard, which leaves me with plenty of time to get lost in a good book. Come join the adventure for ATSAR!

A little history for your feed! It’s amazing to look back at the aftermath of the 2010 Haiti earthquake and see where modern drone SAR operations truly began. From providing critical aerial imagery then to what we can do now, technology continues to help us reach further and save lives faster. 🚁✨
