MTV Sports & Music Festival in 1997 at Zilker Park

This could’ve been the most insane festival ever, and there wasn’t another major festival at Zilker since the founding of ACL Festival in 2002

They shipped in over 80 tons of artificial snow. Built the largest snowboard ramp in the USA at the time.

Had major artists and bands like: Wu-Tang Clan, Blink-182, Everclear, The Offspring, Smash Mouth, The Crystal Method, Sugar Ray, Reel Big Fish, 311

There was also BMX and skateboarding, with the largest Single halfpipe, and considered the first legitimate skateboarding competitions

Approximately 10,000 people attended per day, and tickets were $5 at the gate (some speculations of it being free or $13… but it was cheap)

It’s estimated 25% of Austin High School skipped class to attend

Let me know in the comments if you were here
