The Call
THE CALL (formed in Santa Cruz, CA in 1980)
Michael Been, Scott Musick, Tom Ferrier & Jim Goodwin. Who are THE CALL?
Possibly the most underrated band in the history of music. Adjectives that one often hears when describing THE CALL include "powerful", "moving", "indispensable", "emotional", "passionate", "spiritual", the list goes on. One thing is certain, they deserved a better fate than the one dealt to them. This band is a great combination of musicians that crafted excellent tunes. This page is dedicated to fans of real music and will continue as a lasting tribute to the band THE CALL.

Review of "The Walls Came Down" single with Todd Rundgren from rock journalist Dmitry M. Epstein on Let It Rock:
"The upgraded “Walls” is an impressive work. It’s fantastic, listening to Rundgren’s succulent vocals laid against a vigorous, catchy ‘n’ crunchy instrumental backing which shines in a separate voiceless variant of the piece – set as a counterpoint to the Todd’s sonic attack, with the different details of it all highlighted in two distinct mixes, his and the collective’s."

An excellent tribute article on The Call (in French - you can easily read it by going to your Safari browser and View>Translation or right click on Chrome to translate page into English), which was recently submitted to us by fan and journalist Bruno Polaroïd, who first saw The Call on tour with Peter Gabriel in Lille, France in 1983.
At the concert, he remembered Peter Gabriel introducing the band with the quote: "An American band that I love very much, with songs that go straight to the heart."

The New York Times article today on The Lost Boys. As a few may know, The Call was invited to appear in the movie performing "I Still Believe (Great Design)" but they passed on the offer, and instead they let the sax guy cover it. And it became what it is in pop culture history ... from The Family Guy to Reservation Dogs.
Recently, the producers of the new The Lost Boys Broadway musical reached out to use the melody of "I Still Believe" in the play, but the parties involved couldn't agree on terms.
‘The Lost Boys’ Helped Define the ’80s in More Ways Than One The film that’s been adapted into a new musical created a memorable aesthetic with its cast and outfits. Its ideas about the nuclear family also made it a movie for its time.
