Professional social growth for neurodivergent teens.

Owned by a BCBA, "The Quarry Social Adventures" uses D&D to build real-world confidence, communication, and lasting friendships in a safe, joyful environment.

At Well Taught, we are proudly neurodiversity-affirming and strictly assent-based. But what does that actually mean for your teen?

🛑 We never force compliance. Traditional programs often focus on "behavior reduction" or masking. We believe that forcing a child to conform at the expense of their comfort is outdated and unethical.

🤝 We respect autonomy. In The Quarry, your teen's consent and comfort are paramount. We collaborate with players to set their own social-communication goals, giving them the independence they crave.

🌿 A space to completely unmask. We don't try to change or "fix" how your teen's brain works. Instead, we provide a safe, structured, and joyful environment where their unique strengths are celebrated and used to conquer cooperative challenges.

Autonomy, unmasking, and self-advocacy are the ultimate win conditions at our table.

If you're looking for a supportive environment where your child can truly be themselves while making genuine friends, we’d love to connect.

🎲 Finally, a social group your teen actually wants to join.

Navigating real-world social cues can feel like playing a game without a rulebook. That’s why we created The Quarry Social Adventures—our premium, 8-week in-person social adventures for neurodivergent teens (ages 10-13, 14-17, and 18+) in North Austin!

Instead of sitting in a circle practicing forced icebreakers, our players team up in a small "party" of 3-4 peers to play cooperative tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons.
Guided by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and supervised by a BCBA, players naturally practice:

⚔️ Real-Time Collaboration: Negotiating with party members and solving creative puzzles as a team.

⚔️ Cognitive Flexibility: Adapting to unexpected twists in the story.

⚔️ Authentic Self-Advocacy: Learning to voice their ideas, set boundaries, and support their teammates.

The best part? The confidence and communication skills they master at our table naturally transfer to school, home, and real-world friendships.

We are currently building our next "parties"! Space is highly limited to preserve a high clinical quality.

Hello, Austin families!

My name is Shelby, and I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and school guidance counselor. More than anything, I believe that the best way to shape our future is by nurturing the hearts and minds we teach today. đź’›

Over the years, I’ve seen a massive gap in supportive programming for our neurodivergent pre-teens and teenagers. Too often, they are guided into rigid, compliance-based social programs that feel exhausting and clinical.

I founded Well Taught to prove there is a better, more ethical way. Social connection shouldn't feel like a chore, it should be a joyful adventure!

Here, we focus on helping young people build real-world autonomy, self-advocacy, and lasting relationships on their own terms. I am so incredibly excited to welcome your family to our community.
