Escaped to Chinati Hot Springs to play with watercolors, stare at stars, and ease my mind ✨

I needed some peace and quiet and this place was both. Tucked into Pinto Canyon and far away from paved roads, this rustic oasis invites you to reconnect with yourself and the beauty of nature.

I was delighted to see families of quail scooting around the property, as well as a clear view of the Milky Way and shooting stars from the Perseids Meteor Shower.

The road there was rough, but nothing compares to finding yourself driving through the middle of nowhere in the Chihuahuan Desert, surrounded by ocotillo, javelina, and cholla cactus - definitely one of my happy places! 💖

This was my favorite hike on my last trip to Big Bend. We left the campground and started up the cliff as the sun was starting to make its descent. After a gorgeous journey, surrounded by far-off mountains, we arrived at the hot spring just in time for sunset. And as we left, the moon came out, illuminating bats playing among the stars. 🦇✨🌝

🔴 Sold! 🍾 Wimberley’s Blue Hole

Inspired by the popular swimming destination in Wimberley, Texas, known simply as Blue Hole.

Here, cool, clear water rushes out of limestone, creating a natural spring-fed pool that’s surrounded by enormous cypress trees, providing shade and support for rope swings.

Throwback Thursday to this colorful pigeon painting I made in 2015! Here’s a description from the past:

“My latest creation is called, simply, “Pigeon Portrait.” It’s a 24″x36″ acrylic painting on an Ampersand art board. Larger than it sounds, and very bright, this pigeon lights up a room.

It is the second large, graphic, acrylic painting I’ve done and I plan to continue the trend. I already have my next painting in mind.” 🪺

It’s so fun to go back and see how I found my style. It took years of experimentation and influence from a decade of commercial graphic design work to finally find my artistic voice.
