🇺🇸🇧🇩 U.S. pushes for transparent infrastructure deals as Bangladesh looks to attract more energy investment.

On September 7, 2026, U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen met Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir at the FBCCI office in Dhaka to discuss U.S. investment, energy cooperation, infrastructure procurement, and the broader trade environment.

Key discussion points:
→ Priority for U.S. proposals: Bangladesh indicated that U.S. companies able to demonstrate rapid, credible FSRU delivery could receive the highest priority.
→ Transparent procurement: The U.S. emphasized open competition and predictable processes for major infrastructure projects to strengthen investor confidence
→ Energy opportunity: LNG, FSRUs, and broader energy cooperation are emerging as important areas for deeper U.S.-Bangladesh commercial engagement.

Why this matters ♟️
The discussion reflects a broader shift toward a more institutional, investment-led U.S.-Bangladesh economic relationship, with greater emphasis on credible projects, transparent processes, and ex*****on capability.

As Mohammed Mia, Founding Director of UBUI and a U.S.-based energy investment executive, notes: “This is not about individual transactions. The larger opportunity is to build sustained U.S.-Bangladesh energy partnerships that can bring capital, technology, and ex*****on capability into the market over the long term.“

UBUI welcomes this momentum and remains focused on strengthening the institutional and commercial bridge between the United States and Bangladesh 🚀

🇺🇸🇧🇩 25 leading companies. 50 senior business leaders. A strong signal of growing U.S.-Bangladesh economic momentum.

Earlier this August, the U.S.-Bangladesh Business Council (UBBC) delegation to Dhaka brought together leaders from Chevron, Excelerate Energy, Meta, Salesforce, Cisco, Boeing, Visa, Mastercard, Uber, MetLife, HSBC, Standard Chartered and other major companies for discussions with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and senior government leaders.

The focus was clear: investment, technology, job creation and deeper long-term economic cooperation. For Bangladesh, three areas stand out:

⚡ Energy + Infrastructure
Building the systems and investment base needed for long-term industrial growth.

💻 Technology + AI
Expanding digital capability, cybersecurity, enterprise technology and high-skilled talent.

🏭 Advanced Industry + Capital
Deepening manufacturing, global value-chain participation and access to international investment.

At UBUI, we see this as part of a broader strategic question: how Bangladesh can convert stronger U.S. engagement into long-term gains in productivity, industrial capability and high-value employment.

Our focus is to contribute ideas, analysis and policy-oriented perspectives that can help shape that next phase of U.S.-Bangladesh economic cooperation.

The momentum is real. The next challenge is turning it into durable economic capability 🦾🚀

🇧🇩 Bangladesh is projected to reach approximately $677B in nominal GDP by 2030, potentially surpassing Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand in total economic size, based on IMF WEO data analyzed by Visual Capitalist.

Scale matters, but size alone is not the objective. The larger opportunity is converting that growth into productivity, resilience and higher-value industrial capacity. Three areas will be particularly important:

⚡ Energy + Infrastructure
Building the reliable, high-capacity systems required for industrial expansion and more sophisticated supply chains.

🏭 Advanced Manufacturing + Export Diversification
Moving further into electronics, semiconductor assembly and testing, and higher-value manufacturing.

🤖 AI + Technology Adoption
Using AI, automation and modern software to improve productivity across manufacturing, logistics and enterprise.

For UBUI, this reinforces the opportunity for deeper U.S.-Bangladesh collaboration around capital, technology transfer, commercialization and strategic industry partnerships.

Growth creates scale. Capability determines what Bangladesh can do with it 🚀

🇧🇩⚡️ Bangladesh’s energy system is under growing pressure. Declining domestic gas supply, rising exposure to imported LNG, and persistent infrastructure constraints are increasingly affecting industry, investment, and economic competitiveness.

Mohammed Mia, U.S.-based energy investment professional and Founding Board Director of UBUI, recently shared his perspective in Counterpoint BD on what Bangladesh needs to do next:

→ Secure more resilient, long-term energy supply
→ Build professional hedging and risk-management capabilities
→ Invest in diversified energy infrastructure
→ Introduce market reforms that improve competition and transparency

🌍 At UBUI, we are working to connect Bangladesh with global expertise, capital, technology, and strategic partners that can help turn these priorities into action.

We also aim to create a platform where ideas can move beyond discussion into commercial partnerships, investment opportunities, and practical engagement with Bangladesh’s public and private sectors.

🇧🇩⚡ A critical conversation on Bangladesh’s energy future.

As a co-host of the Bengal Delta Conference 2026, UBUI was proud to support the session “Import Dependence, Climate Vulnerability and Geopolitics: Rethinking Energy Security in Bangladesh,” featuring Dr. Md. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Professor M. Tamim, Vice Chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh, moderated by Md. Rubaiyath Sarwar, Managing Director of Innovision Consulting.

💬 The discussion explored some of the critical questions shaping Bangladesh’s energy future:

→ Reduce import dependence to strengthen energy security and economic resilience
→ Balance affordability, reliability and climate resilience as demand continues to grow
→ Build a diversified energy system that can support Bangladesh’s long-term competitiveness and investment agenda

Energy security is ultimately about economic resilience, national competitiveness, and creating the foundation for Bangladesh’s long-term growth.

UBUI was glad to co-host and support this important dialogue alongside Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics - daira and to help advance the kind of thoughtful conversations that can turn today’s challenges into stronger policy, investment and opportunity for Bangladesh 🇧🇩🚀

🇧🇩🎙️ A timely conversation on Bangladesh’s economic future.

As a co-host of the Bengal Delta Conference 2026, UBUI was proud to support the fireside session on Economic Plan, Revenue and Investment, featuring Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Honorable Adviser for Finance and Planning, in conversation with Professor Mushtaq Khan of SOAS University of London, one of Bangladesh’s leading thinkers on development, institutions and industrial policy.

💬 The conversation focused on some of the big questions shaping Bangladesh’s next chapter:

→ Turning investment into production, jobs and stronger public revenue
→ Building capable, accountable institutions
→ Creating a more competitive and productive private sector
→ Translating economic growth into greater opportunity for people

Dr. Titumir’s emphasis on investment-led growth grounded in Bangladesh’s realities was particularly encouraging, while Professor Khan brought his deep perspective on the institutions and policies needed to make that growth sustainable.

These are the thoughtful, substantive conversations Bangladesh needs today. Congratulations to Dacca Institute of Research and Analytics - daira for bringing together this important platform.

UBUI was honored to co-host and support the dialogue, and proud to play a small part in advancing the conversation around a stronger, more competitive and prosperous Bangladesh 📈🚀

🇧🇩✊ Two years ago, the people of Bangladesh, led by the extraordinary courage of our students and young generation, showed the world what is possible when a nation stands together.

Today, we remember with the deepest respect those who sacrificed their lives, those who were injured, and every ordinary citizen who raised their voice for dignity, justice, and a better Bangladesh.

August 5 was not only the end of one chapter. It marked the beginning of a new responsibility 🦾

A responsibility to build a Bangladesh where institutions are stronger than individuals, every citizen is treated with dignity, young people can dream without limits, and progress belongs to everyone.

From UBUI, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting a peaceful, democratic, prosperous, and globally connected Bangladesh.

May the sacrifices of July and August 2024 continue to inspire us, not toward division, but toward unity, accountability, and nation-building. Bangladesh’s greatest days are still ahead 🚀

Houston is evolving beyond the Energy Capital of the world. It is becoming a place where AI infrastructure, energy systems, advanced manufacturing, and global supply chains converge 🤖⚡️

As AI scales, the conversation is no longer just about compute. It’s about power, industrial capacity, talent, and resilient global partnerships.

We’re excited to see thought leaders like Jill Sweeney highlighting the strategic importance of corridors such as Houston and Bangladesh in shaping the next generation of globally relevant AI growth.

At UBUI, we believe these connections can help unlock new opportunities for innovation, investment, deep-tech commercialization, and economic development across both countries 🇺🇸🤝🇧🇩
