TTU Shelf Lady

First off, THANK YOU so much for the overwhelming support and orders for this upcoming school year! It's been a pleasure to meet some of you with early pick ups. I truly pray over each students TTU journey when I'm building their shelves.❤️🖤

I received nearly double the orders I had last year, and my waiting list grew to almost 100 people! Thankfully my dad signed on to help me be able to increase our build production to take on more - but he drew a hard line at helping with the painting. 🤣

I still receive messages daily asking whether any orders have fallen through - and I get that it never hurts to ask, so here’s the current situation for anyone who might wonder:

NOW…because my anxiety always has me convinced I miscounted (even though I know have counted sixty-eleven times) there MAY be a few extra shelves in our trailer when we arrive in Lubbock.

There also very well MAY NOT be any extras. 🤷🏻‍♀️

While this next set of shelves is drying from the first coat of paint (and because it’s approximately 9,000° in my garage… even with the portable AC working overtime 🥵), I’m taking a little break.

It got me thinking… When we moved my daughter into Texas Tech, we made more than one Target/Walmart run for all the little things we forgot. So I thought I’d share my “just in case” / overprepared parent list.

🛠️ Random things you’ll be glad you packed:

• Duct tape
• Case of bottled water
• Zip ties (assorted sizes)
• Tylenol, ibuprofen, or your favorite headache medicine (your aging body might thank me later 🤣)
• Clorox wipes
• Trash bags
• Scissors or a box cutter
• Sharpie
• Basic screwdriver/tool kit
• Command strips & hooks
• Extension cord & surge protector
• Extra phone charger (with a long cord!)
• Paper towels
• Snacks (everyone gets hungry on move-in day!)

This is probably the question I get asked the most!

From the very first shelf I built (the one that lived above my daughter's bed her freshman year), I've used 𝗮𝗱𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀. They were originally designed for child-proofing furniture, but they've worked great for our shelves too.

Every shelf we make includes 2 sets of anchors (giving you two separate attachment points). If you're the extra-cautious type, you can absolutely add more for additional peace of mind.

We attach one side to the top of the shelf and the other to the wall.

Over the past two years, we've built and delivered 100+ TTU shelves, and we haven't had a single reported issue with this installation method.

Now... obligatory disclaimer. 😅 They do exactly what they're designed to do. However, if your student decides their dorm room is the newest WWE arena or YouTube stunt channel, I can't promise the shelf will survive that level of enthusiasm. 🥴

❤️ Waiting List Families:
First, thank you for your patience. I know "patiently" may be a stretch at this point. 🤪I know everyone is anxious to hear whether we'll be able to fulfill additional orders. I should have a final answer for the waiting list by Thursday.

**I do want to be completely transparent: we're probably looking at fewer than 8 shelves becoming available, while our waiting list grew to more than 70 families.**

As heartbreaking as it is knowing we won't be able to help everyone this year, I promise I'm working through every possible option before making final decisions.

**Shelf Update** We are still on waitlist - currently about 50 orders in waitlist.

Due to an increase in lumber prices (like everything in this world right now 🥴), we are having to increase the price to $250 per shelf moving forward.

I am considering opening up a round of pickup orders. Please note, pickup would be in Azle, Texas.
