PA Week Spotlight: Parker Eastwood, PA-C

As Parker Eastwood celebrates his first year as a PA, he’s proud of the difference he’s already been able to make for his patients.

One patient who stands out was a father of three who had been dealing with persistent mid-back pain following a car accident. His pain had begun interfering with everyday moments with his children and activities he loved like golf and basketball. After extensive treatment elsewhere without meaningful improvement, he came to Excelsia for another perspective.

Parker took a closer look at the source of his pain and, working alongside Excelsia’s physical therapy and interventional pain teams, helped identify a treatment approach that made a significant difference. After treatment, the patient experienced 80–90% relief and was able to return to golf, basketball, and, most importantly, being the active father he wanted to be.

One of the best feelings is when a patient returns and shares that they’re sleeping better, experiencing less discomfort, and finally making progress in their recovery.

Pain management can take different forms depending on the source of pain, symptoms and individual treatment goals.

Conservative approaches focus on non-invasive strategies such as medications, activity modifications, physical rehabilitation, and heat or ice therapy. When these approaches aren’t enough, interventional pain management may use minimally invasive procedures to target specific sources of pain, including injections, nerve ablations and electrical stimulation.
