STEMcx Saturday Academy is officially back for the fall semester — and this time, our students are taking STEM around the world. 🌍✈️
Our first stop: Japan 🇯🇵
During our first session, students explored Japan’s culture, geography, and the science behind earthquakes. They learned how engineers design structures to better withstand seismic activity, then put those ideas into practice by building earthquake tables, testing structures, making adjustments, and strengthening their designs. 🏗️
The session was led by Ms. Jasmine Young in partnership with Baltimore Underground Science Space, giving students the opportunity to experience engineering through hands-on problem-solving.
Throughout the semester, students will continue exploring STEM through countries including India, Denmark, Pakistan, Egypt, and Kenya discovering how science, technology, engineering, and math are used to solve real-world challenges across the globe.
The world is their classroom. 🌎🔬

Giving underrepresented minority students a chance in STEM
STEM really is the best kind of learning. You get to build, create, experiment, explore, and actually see what you’re capable of. 🔬⚙️🧪🚀
From healthcare to engineering to technology and beyond, there’s a place for every kind of curious mind in STEM.
The best part? You don’t have to know exactly what you want to be yet. You just have to start exploring. ✨

“I could never be a vet… it’s way too hard.” 🐾🩺
Then you get one real hands-on experience and suddenly you’re asking, “Wait… could this actually be me?”
That’s why exposure matters. STEMcx gives students the chance to explore careers like veterinary medicine up close, build confidence, ask questions, and imagine themselves in spaces they may have never considered before.
Sometimes the dream starts with simply getting the chance to try. 💫

Plot twist: sometimes the career you “could never see yourself in” becomes the one you can’t stop talking about. 🦷🩺✨
That’s what exposure can do. One visit, one mentor, one hands-on experience can completely change the way a student sees their future.
At STEMcx, we’re helping students explore careers in healthcare and STEM before they ever have to decide what they want to become.
Because sometimes you just have to see it to believe it. 💫
