6 years ago, my wife Jill Vernon got me a Cameo from Diamond Dallas Page (Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) ) for my 35th birthday 🎂 We were both doing DDP YOGA at the time, and I'm also an old-school wrestling fan, so it was a perfect tie-in and a very meaningful gift.

At the time, I was in my feelings about being 35, feeling like I failed as a music producer, and that my window had closed to find success. I guess my wife had shared this with DDP, so for his Cameo, he actually gave me a motivational speech talking about how he didn't even start training to be a wrestler until he was in his late 30's, and how 35 was just the beginning for him, how he went on to become a huge star, and how it's never too late to chase your dreams, etc.

In the moment, it felt like a nice thing to say to somebody, but me being cynical by nature, I thought "yeah, but that's never going to happen for me." 😅 Well, a funny thing happened. "Daddy Cool" unexpectedly caught fire in 2022, followed by "Caribbean Queen" later that year. In 2023, I hit 1 million streams on Spotify, something I never imagined was possible for me after 18 years of banging my head against the wall. And now, on my 41st birthday no less, I hit 7 million streams on Spotify. I guess DDP was right. It's never too late to chase your dreams.
