We are an independent 6-12 school providing life-changing, meaningful experiential education in Bellingham, Washington.
We are committed to providing a progressive, experiential middle and high school education that teaches students social responsibility, environmental stewardship and global awareness through thematic learning clusters, local and international service projects, and outward bound field excursions. Testimonial: "This is a phenomenal school! Teaching social responsibility often is at the bottom of public school teachers' 'to do lists'--but not at Explorations Academy. A student centered education is just one of the tremendous attributes that sets this school apart from the rest. Kids gain real skills, confidence and of course a world of knowledge, paving their way to a bright and successful future!" —Submitted by a former student

With we learned 6 new techniques for natural and alternative building! We diverted materials from the waste stream and made use of the abundant resources of the area. This greenhouse will be used to grow native plants for local restoration projects in Arizona's Sky Islands. What will you build?
We finished our build with and they sent us off road tripping into some truly beautiful country! Thanks to Southern Arizona and Sheila the Van for these priceless memories.

Ruins at Carr Canyon in Coronado National Forest. Special shout out to Borderlands Restoration Network, who talked to us about native seed collection and conservation efforts in the Sky Islands. Also, we got to eat crickets. 🦗

Grateful for the thoughtful coverage by , reporter Charlotte Alden, and photographer Santiago Ochoa. They captured the magic of learning at our field campus- blackberry roots, frog sightings, and all. Our students are observing, restoring and connecting with nature across multiple disciplines.
