Did you know you can clean water with just sand and gravel? Do you wonder how certain chemicals affect water quality? Do you enjoy doing hands-on work and getting dirty? If yes, then Cal Environmental Team is the perfect fit for you. In our fall/spring decal, we'll teach you the essentials to water treatment and you'll have the opportunity to learn design and apply both as we prepare for an intercollegiate competition. Cal Environmental Team is a civil engineering competition team that participates in an annual water treatment competition (ASCE Mid-Pacific Student Conference). Given a scenario, wastewater recipe, list of household materials to use, and target water quality parameters, we design and practice constructing water filters, lab testing our water and improving our design throughout the year. After we finalize a design for the competition, we also prepare a technical presentation, report, and poster, all of which are major components of our score. If you're interested in water treatment, construction, presenting, learning to write a technical paper etc., look out for our posting on the decal website for the fall semester. You can also contact us at [email protected] for more information! Cal Environmental Team is sponsored by the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. You can also find us on instagram:
