Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.
Six men take their own lives in Australia every day and men are three times more likely to die by su***de than women.
For every famous face who loses their life to su***de, there are thousands, not so famous who take their own lives. These people arenât always mentioned in the press but if they were it would be impossible to ignore the scale of this issue.
We need to talk more, connect more, work that emotional muscle and sit in those uncomfortable conversations, we need to be able to sit with our mates, be present and listen, whether they're at the highest of highs or the lowest of lows.
We can all help prevent su***de. Reach out to a mate, work on that connection, check-in regularly - so if they are ever up against it they know youâre there for them.
If you feel like you need immediate help call Lifeline 13 11 14 or Mensline 1300 78 99 78â 24/7
