Hearing aids do not turn Deaf people into hearing people. They are simple amplifiers, not a perfect fix for sound. A person using hearing aids still requires full language access and visual support to participate completely.

A cochlear implant (CI) does not erase the need for language access. It is an assistive tool, not a cure for deafness. Full inclusion still requires clear captions, visual signals, and full language options.

Hearing technology is not the same thing as accessibility. Hearing aids or implants do not automatically make a space inclusive. True accessibility requires removing barriers, providing captions, and securing full language access.

Do state programs push medical fixes (implants) way harder than teaching sign language?
Many beginners make the mistake of watching only the hands. Always look directly at the eyes and face instead. Sign language is a full visual conversation, not just hand movements.

Do not get impatient when a Deaf person types on their phone to order food or services. It is their way of communicating clearly and accurately. A little patience goes a long way for inclusion.

When a Deaf person asks you a question in writing, write your answer back. Do not reply by speaking out loud. Speaking verbally to someone who cannot hear you completely breaks the communication loop.
