And here’s another You ask, I answer.

Sometimes the danger has passed, but your body continues to respond as if it still needs to protect you. This difficulty slowing down and feeling safe deserves attention, especially when it begins to affect your daily life and well-being.

Therapy can help you understand what may be behind this constant state of alert.

🇺🇸

Starting over in another country can leave us feeling more vulnerable, making a relationship initially seem like a place of safety and comfort.

But when affection gives way to fear, dependence, and control — including control over decisions related to your immigration journey — it’s important to take a closer look at the relationship.

Love should never be used as a reason to limit your autonomy.

Legal guidance can help you understand your rights, while therapy can provide emotional support as you recognize and process what you are experiencing.

🇺🇸

And here’s another You ask, I answer.

Not all forms of violence leave physical marks. Control, isolation, humiliation, financial dependence, and behaviors that undermine your self-esteem can also be part of an abusive relationship.

Recognizing what is happening can be an important step toward breaking that cycle.

Seeking appropriate support is essential. Legal guidance can help you understand your rights and options for protection, while therapy can provide emotional support as you process what you’ve experienced and work toward rebuilding your autonomy.

🇺🇸

You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

There are moments when trying to handle everything becomes overwhelming, affecting your emotions, thoughts, relationships, and even your daily life.

Therapy can provide a safe space to understand what you’re feeling, process your emotions, and find new ways to navigate what has been difficult.

If you feel you need this support, reach out to me through the link in my bio. 🌱

🇺🇸

🍃 Living abroad can also bring silent pressure: the need to show everyone that everything worked out.

Behind an “I’m fine,” there may be fear of judgment, loneliness, and difficulty admitting that this experience has been harder than you expected.

You don’t have to maintain an image while suffering in silence.

If living away from home has been affecting your emotional well-being, reach out through the link in my bio and let’s talk about how therapy can support you.

🇺🇸

🌿 And here’s another You ask, I answer.

This time, the question is: can a psychological evaluation help when an immigration case seems lost?

What appears in an immigration case does not always tell the whole story. Traumatic experiences, intense stress, and other emotional factors can affect how someone remembers, organizes, and communicates important events.

This is where a specialized clinical perspective can provide relevant information to better understand the context.

In this Reel, I explain the role a psychological evaluation may play in situations like these.

If you’re going through this, let’s talk. Reach out through the link in my bio.

🌿 And here’s another You ask, I answer.

This time, the question is: what happens to the mental health of someone who lives under the constant threat of having their immigration process interrupted by their partner?

Fear can be connected to direct threats, but it can also arise from more subtle forms of control and emotional pressure. After all, abuse does not always leave visible marks — it can also be psychological.

In this Reel, I explain how this type of situation can emotionally affect someone experiencing it.

If you’re going through this, let’s talk. Reach out through the link in my bio.

On August 31, psychology and law met in a necessary dialogue. 💬

I had the honor of presenting the lecture “Psychology of Conflict: Emotions, Communication, and the Limits of Building Consensus” to lawyers from the Taguatinga Subsection (OAB/DF), mediated by attorney Carolina Lazzarotto.

We reflected on six paths: listening and welcoming others; understanding resistance and what remains unsaid; looking at vulnerability, trauma, and emotional regulation; redefining success, since resolving does not necessarily mean agreeing; recognizing our power; and caring for the boundaries and inner conflicts of mediators.

Before building consensus, we must understand what drives each person — and what drives us.

I thank OAB/DF and the Taguatinga Subsection for the invitation and trust. May we continue showing that mental health is also a tool for justice. 🤍

Have you ever reflected on the role emotions play in your conflicts?

Those who support someone also need support themselves. If you’re at the center of a waiver, hardship, or cancellation of removal case, your health needs to be in order — because how can you prove you’re essential to someone if you don’t treat yourself as a priority?

It’s curious how we invest in procedures and body care, but hesitate when the subject is mental health. Caring for your mind isn’t a luxury — it’s what keeps you strong enough to keep caring for those who depend on you.🍀

When someone we love gets sick, being present goes far beyond translating words. It’s standing by their side at appointments, asking the questions that matter, remembering the medication at the right time, cooking, taking care of the house, holding their arm during a walk. It’s refusing to let the health of someone we love deteriorate even further — even when their body can no longer handle standing.

You have become that person’s physical, mental, and emotional balance. And maybe you call all of this love. But for immigration, it has another name: evidence. What you do for the people you love may be exactly what keeps your family together. 💛
