My First Visit to Beaver Creek Colorado
You know me as Colorado Girl Travels, so you’d think I’ve been everywhere in Colorado. You’d also think I had already been to Beaver Creek at least once in my 30+ years in the Centennial State. So yes, here comes the shocker. This is my first visit.
Yesterday was filled with firsts and, well, indecision, because I did not know I was heading here until early Saturday morning. This girl is a research queen. BCRBO decided that since I would be helping him with his Beaver Creek vacation rental business, I needed a firsthand experience. I’ll be here for a week, staying at the Beaver Creek Park Hyatt Residence. I just woke up from my second night of sleeping in one of the most luxurious villas I’ve ever stayed in, and that’s saying a lot when I am a DVC member at the Poly at Walt Disney World!
1. It’s huge! A 2-bedroom with the largest en-suite I’ve ever seen, with a jetted tub, separate shower, water closet, two sinks, four light switches, and one in the water closet! Oh, and there is room to dance your heart out while drying off, listening to your walk-up song. I need a bathroom like this at home!
2. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner for six adults! From w**e glasses to silverware, with a coffee grinder, blender, pots and pans, a bigger fridge than I have at home, and a dishwasher. Really, a Thanksgiving feast might actually be feasible, you’d just need to bring the turkey roasting pan!
3. The beds: My hubby and I are notorious bad sleepers on vacation, and the number of “bed bowls” we have encountered is, well, something we just come to expect. Rule of thumb hug the edge and plan to be rump to rump by morning, with a rope to pull you out! Not here! He has his space, I have mine, and we only meet in the middle for a kiss good night and morning!
4. The service! The cleaning folks knock on our door in the morning “housekeeping” nope we’re good. Then at night, nope we’re good, “Need clean towel?” yes and got two chocolates each dark for hubby and milk for me. Last night were were out and came home to a fully cleaned home and our chocolates. WOW! No expectation, no ask, just done.
5. We toured the full property yesterday! Every step told us ownership and employees love this destination, the Hyatt and the people that come to visit. These aren’t tired “cast members”, most are locals who grew up in the valley, glad to have a job that keeps them in their home town. Service is personal, not performed with a smile. Questions are answered, and opinions are given. Every space felt welcoming, easy to relax in and fun to explore.
Today we are ready to vacation. We know the lay of the land, have a list of experiences to plan to experience, and are already wondering if, as non-skiers, staying less than 100 steps from the gondola in winter will be as fun for us. I’m thinking yes! The outdoor skating rink is just below our window, the hot tubs are calling, and the hills look fun for snowmobiling. I’ve added a new bucket-list experience waiting to happen.

This year, my amazing kids (both in their 20’s) took me out for the ultimate Father’s Day gift: a day of fishing together! 🌊 We laughed, we bonded, and we even caught some impressive fish (see the photos below!).

Being a travel agent, I spend my days planning adventures for others, but this simple outing reminded me how precious it is to enjoy life’s moments with family.
