We can't express enough just how much this work means to us and our community. Seeing happy children never gets old and giving caring parents peace of mind is truly priceless.

Our client expressed how difficult it was not having furniture and how embarrassed she was to invite family over. Not anymore. Plus, we filled the spaces with her favorite color pink.

After the Healthy Home Furniture Installation project was completed, seeing the mom and her mother, who was visiting, curled up on the loveseat and chaise was beautiful.They looked so cozy and comfortable.

Because of our incredible volunteers, donors of furniture and decor, and financial gifts from our community of supporters, we're able to carry out our mission; to restore hope by transforming empty spaces into homes. 💕

A mother and her three children have just transitioned into this Buffalo apartment and are starting over from scratch.

This can be an overwhelming, expensive, and an emotionally stressful process. But, we're here for them and ready to transform these empty rooms into comfortable spaces that feel like 🏡.

This week, we pause with full hearts to express gratitude for every moment when we are able to show up in that way for others in need of a hand UPward. 🙌🏾

Sometimes things can get a little out of control—like the jungle of weeds behind our donation center. 👀

But thanks to the kindness of Lynne and Jay, the sister and brother‑in‑law of our treasured volunteer, Lisa, that overgrown space got the TLC it desperately needed.

They offered their time simply because they wanted to do something good for our community and for UDFL, and we are so grateful.They tackled those weeds like absolute pros, and now we can actually walk back there again!

Thank you, Lynne and Jay, for showing up with heart and helping us keep our space neat and tidy. 🫶🏾💪🏽

This week, our hearts are shining with gratitude for every opportunity we had to help others in need. There is something truly beautiful about coming together to lift someone up, to ease a burden, or to brighten a difficult day. Helping others is a celebration of humanity at its best, and we are honored to play a part in that joy.

"My life has completely been transformed. Our house has now become our home! I feel joy and safety. I have never felt this in over ten years. My children now have a space where they can feel comfortable."

This day felt like Christmas in September for this beautiful family. Their joy is truly palpable, and our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the opportunity to be of service. 🥰🥰🥰

Domestic violence — and its devastating impact on families — is painfully real.

We recently conducted a home visit with a mother of five young children who has been fleeing danger for far too long.They escaped from the west coast and moved just outside of Buffalo, to get away from an abuser… only to be followed there, and then again here in the city of Buffalo.

Can you imagine living this way — constantly on the run, simply trying to find peace, safety, and stability?

As the mother shared the challenges they face, the sadness on the oldest child’s face was unmistakable. It was the kind of expression that quietly breaks your heart. 💔

While discussing what we could do to help transform their home, we asked the mother what she likes — her style, her favorite color. She paused and said, “No one has ever asked me that before. I don't know." The weight of that moment was overwhelming. 🥺

There are challenges facing this family that we just cannot solve. But what we can do is give them a sense of home — and the peace of mind that comes with it — for as long as possible.

Providing children with spaces that spark joy and restore a sense of safety is something we’re profoundly grateful to offer.

So many of these little ones have endured traumatic experiences no child should ever face, and creating environments that comfort, UPlift, and honor their existence is a privilege we never take lightly.

Our donation center stays organized throughout the year, but every so often we set aside a day for deep cleaning, reorganizing, and furniture repairs.

Thanks to our awesome volunteers who always show up ready to help. We had sunshine, good vibes, and great music to keep us moving! 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
