Weather forecasting and storm chasing across the Great Lakes and northeast!

07/30/2026

The WPC has put all of WNY in a slight risk for excessive rainfall on Sunday. At this point, I’ll buy it when I see it. 😄

While most of Western Ny got spared by the heavy rain, the same was not true of Eastern Ny. Some radar estimates are showing over 10” of rain so far. Any pics or videos from anyone that lives over there? Has to be some insane flooding!

This summer in a nutshell 😅

So it looks like Lake Eries lake shadow was impenetrable today. Going to take the loss on this one and eat the crow… Every single model was wrong today. Look at that shield around Erie county. Sorry guys you have to water your lawns! 🤣

A lot of the posters responding to my posts have said “no other news station is showing 1-3” of rain across WNY the last few days.” The current forecast from the NWS is below… make sure you guys drop a follow, it doesn’t get better than Buffalo Weather. 😉

The WPC has increased forecasted rainfall totals across our area in the vicinity of 2" through Wednesday. The majority of this will come tomorrow.

A side by side of the Euro and GFS shows over 2" of rain across all of WNY the next few days! You won't have to water your lawns this week!

The smoke this time around is elevated in nature. Last events smoke made it down to the surface and impacted the air quality. While that will happen to some degree, nothing like the last event. This one will really only impact the skies with a general haziness to it and lower daytime maximum high temps.

A low pressure system is going to be making its way eastward across the great lakes tomorrow into Tuesday and spreading a few bouts of rain and storminess across our area. The highest impacts will be tomorrow evening into Tuesday based on the latest HRRR.

While central and southern Erie county have been "lake shadowed" the last 30 days, many other places across WNY have had a decent amount of rainfall! Places across Niagara county have had more than 3" and in Orleans 4+". We will add more to that this week!
