Ukrainian Wedding Bread - Korovai Lisa and Daria bake and ship korovayi all over the US, Canada, and can ship internationally. Mnohaya Lita! Many Happy Years!

The Korovai is a traditional Ukrainian wedding bread that symbolizes community. The parents of the newlyweds greet them with bread and salt of the earth. The korovai is adorned with ornaments of baked dough: two birds represent the couple, and other ornaments represent family and friends. The entire arrangement is surrounded by sprigs of myrtle, a symbol of love and purity. It can be shared with the guests as a symbol of good luck and future prosperity.

Happy Father’s Day to those who are fathers now, those who were fathers then, those who act as fathers, and those fathers yet to be!

Yesterday’s Korovai baking was dedicated to St. Honoré to make sure that it baked perfectly! The 3 Korovayi I had issues with this week went to: Soyuzivka; as a trade for a shovel to my neighbors, the Shmotolocha’s; and to the Varenyky makers in Yonkers. The bread has holy water in it so they cannot just be thrown away, they must be eaten. Delicious with Iryna Chuhan’s apple butter!

Dear Saint Honoré, patron of bakers, we seek your intercession for all who craft bread and pastries. Please grant them strength, patience, and inspiration so their work brings joy, warmth, and unity to all. Amen.

Today, I’m not McDonald. I’m MacGyver! I needed to bake some dough wrapped skewers to look like wheat for an upcoming permanent Korovai. It’s hard to find a way to bake something upright on sticks in the oven so I put a potato underneath the rack and then stuck the skewer into the potato.
Look at that, dinner and wheat all at once! 🥖🥔🌾

Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S. Olga Stefanishyna: "Today we honor generations of Americans who gave their lives defending freedom in wars across the world, and those brave Americans who gave their lives standing with Ukraine.

As Ukrainians fight for our survival and liberty, we deeply understand the price of freedom. We remember their courage and sacrifice with profound gratitude 🇺🇦🇺🇸"
