File this under Most Unsurprising News Ever: I got formally assessed for ADHD and sensory processing disorder and potentially high masking autism. At 45, I’m validating the very real invisible struggles that I have had to “life hack.” Multiple conversations being a jumbled buzz. Being completely drained from social interactions, even ones that I enjoy and want to have. Constant looping thoughts on conversations. Talking too much. Task paralysis. S**t short term memory combined with insane long term recall. Scanning the emotions of everyone in the room. Between the neurodivergent children needing regulation, and the perimenopause draining my precious focus estrogen: my bandwidth had reached its limits. It’s exhausting.

Today’s my first day on Adderall. I could cry with how linear my thoughts are. In therapy, I’m learning the importance of no-guilt rest, what can wait, what costs me too much. I’m frustrated that I did it the hard way for so long. But I’m also proud of that scrappy little weirdo for juking the game the best she could. It’s never too late to try, to be a different version. If Apple can keep tossing out half assed updates down our throats, so can I.

🌧️ Here’s the thing beautiful weirdos: the downtown market is understandably rain or shine. It’s a gamble. I have my biggest sales of the year there on a sunny day. I count on that sunshine.

Last rainy market, was a huge financial loss for me as several pieces were soaked in the constant mist. Aaaannnd I may have had very big gross feelings. Things. Are. Tough. After overthinking it to the near point of paralysis, I have made the difficult decision to cancel today’s market. Today’s forecast is looking to be wet…and not in the fun way. I cannot put out my framed prints in the rain. I cannot cancel without a fee. Cost of doin’ business. I can, however, do what any creative neurodivergent small business owner does best: pivot.

My dry studio will be open for WeeCanPaint freestyle AND retail from 8:30AM-12:30PM today, Saturday 9/19. I’m located in the heart of New Bohemia at 1010 3rd Street SE, Ste 3, above Lu’s Deli (which will have delicious Donutland doughnuts) next to the scrumptious queso-filled Cafe TaCuba.
