Flyaway Geese offers effective and affordable goose and wildlife management. Call for your free demo and see how quickly we can mitigate your goose or bird problems. Highly trained Border Collies put a predator in your environment. They see color pattern and shape and it triggers a response inside of their head. Something that moves with it's head and tail down triggers the predator response in the birds. Because of this the birds will leave the areas that they feel the threat in.The use of Border Collies is the only method of goose control that is promoted by PETA and the Humane Society. It is safe for the dogs and the birds.

Beautiful view. Very focused company. 🐾
A pond, an open lawn, and a couple of Border Collies watching closely—this is our kind of office.
Behind every good working dog is a handler who knows when to send, when to stop, and when to let the dog quietly assess what’s ahead. That partnership is at the heart of what we do.
Goose patrol can wait. There’s a wave to catch. 🏄♂️🐾
At Flyaway Geese, our Border Collies bring plenty of focus to the job—and a little attitude to their days off. Those goggles say, “I’ve got this.” 😎🌊
Who needs a weekend like this? 🙋♀️

**When geese take flight, safety stays on the ground.**
This photo captures why professional goose management requires a skilled dog AND a knowledgeable handler. With a roadway nearby, every decision matters—from the dog’s position and response to commands to the handler’s awareness of traffic, people, and the birds’ movement.
That’s why **North American Goosedog Association (NAGA) certification for both handlers and dogs matters.** Handler certification includes education in goose biology, handling skills, and demonstrated fieldwork. Dog certification progresses through defined skill levels, with professional standards that include directional commands, recall around birds, and the ability to redirect to another group.
Those skills support a critical responsibility: keeping the dog under control while encouraging geese to leave humanely. Safe fieldwork also requires assessing the surroundings, recognizing hazards, and knowing when to pause or stop.
Certification establishes a foundation. Sound judgment and consistent training put it into practice every day—helping protect the public, the handler, the dog, and the geese.
**When choosing a goose management provider, ask about both the handler’s certification and the dog’s certification level. A qualified team matters.**

**On goose patrol. In pink. 💗🐾**
Our border collies are kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a little pink and a lot of heart.
This cause is deeply personal to me. **My mother and my sister have both fought breast cancer**, so this month carries special meaning for our family.
This October, we honor everyone facing breast cancer, celebrate survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and recognize the loved ones and caregivers walking beside them.
From my family and our Flyaway Geese team to yours—we’re wearing pink with love. 💗
🪿💨 When the Flyaway dogs clock in, the geese know it’s time to move.
Another day, another flock getting escorted off the property. 🐕🪿
They may be having a blast doing it, but these dogs take their job seriously!
The chase is on.

☕HAPPY NATIONAL COFFEE DAY!
Around Flyaway Geese, we take our coffee the same way we take our goose control — seriously. 😂
But let’s be honest… the dogs are probably more interested in the pup cup. 🐶☕️
Raffi may have gotten a little too excited about hers… she wore the cup home.
👇 DROP A PHOTO OF YOUR DOG WITH THEIR PUP CUP IN THE COMMENTS!
Let’s see those coffee-loving pups! And tell us their name while you’re at it! 🐾

🪿🎢 Nobody wants a goose becoming part of the ride experience.
Remember when model Fabio famously got hit in the face by a goose while riding a roller coaster? 🪿
That’s a pretty memorable reminder of why goose control matters—especially at busy properties with thousands of guests.
Our Border Collies and handlers work to keep geese moving off the property and out of high-traffic areas where they’re not wanted.
The goal is simple: control the geese before they become part of the attraction. 🐕🪿

“So… how did you guys end up in Virginia Beach chasing geese?”
We get asked that one a lot. 😂
The answer? The Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project!
We moved to the area for the project, where our dogs worked alongside the environmental team to help manage birds around the active construction areas—keeping shorebirds from landing and nesting where construction was taking place. This helps keep construction moving forward while keeping the birds safe!
And somewhere along the way, chasing geese became a pretty big part of what we do here in Virginia. What started with the HRBT eventually grew into properties all over Hampton Roads.
And here’s a pretty cool HRBT fact: the $3.9 billion expansion is the largest highway construction project in Virginia’s history. It includes two new two-lane tunnels beneath the harbor. 🚧🌊
So, technically, a massive tunnel project is responsible for bringing us to Virginia Beach…
…and the geese are responsible for keeping us here.
While everyone is getting ready to enjoy the show, we’re working behind the scenes to help keep the amphitheater clean, safe, and goose-free. 👀
Our dogs have been putting in the work to move geese off the property and keep them from settling in where they’re not wanted.
Because a clean venue starts before the crowd arrives. 🎶🐾

FUN FACT FRIDAY!
Did you know geese can reach speeds of around 40–50 mph? 💨
And that famous V formation isn’t just for looks! 👀
As a goose flaps its wings, it creates an upward-moving current of air behind and to the side of its body. The goose behind it positions itself in that airflow, giving it extra lift and helping it use less energy to fly.
That means the whole flock can travel farther while saving energy.
