Sometimes, maybe even most times, the star of the show is stone. They are all so amazing your only hope is to highlight them and hope you don't do a disservice. This lovely stone is a tube agate, perfect to start off the fall season. There is a little landscape hidden in this piece of agate — a sweep of ochre desert surrounded on three sides by pale cream mountains, as though the landscape is slowly closing in around it. Here and there, small pockets of crystal drusy appear in the stone, catching the light like tiny patches of sun on the distant hills. A few fine streaks of red move through the ochre, adding just enough color to make the scene feel alive. Appropriate for today it is the Harvest Festival at the market, complete with absolutely gorgeous weather and a full harvest moon. Come celebrate with us, enjoy the lovely day and look for some treasures to take home. You can find this piece here or today at the market. https://stonelinkdesigns.etsy.com/listing/4582949163/tube-agate-drusy-necklace-oxidized

Agate is formed slowly as layers of silica-rich material fill cavities within volcanic rock, creating the bands, colors and patterns that make each piece so individual. Druzy forms when tiny quartz crystals grow across a surface, giving certain areas of the stone their delicate sparkle. Agate has traditionally been associated with grounding, balance and protection, and its connection with the earth has made it a meaningful stone for centuries.

"A Drop in Time" Warring States-style agate, a distinctive type of agate associated with the ancient Chinese tradition of carved and banded agate beads. The name refers to the Warring States period of ancient China, roughly 475–221 BCE, when agate was among the stones used for beads and ornaments. The deep, earthy reds and browns and the unexpected shimmer of drusy give it the presence of an old talisman, while the long, graceful lariat lets the stone become the focal point. I paired it with an oxidized sterling silver chain, adding tiger eye and tiny touches of gold hematite asymmetrically along the chain. Nothing is perfectly balanced—and that is part of its charm. So lets travel the world without leaving Chattanooga! ✈️ Our International Food Court will be serving up delicious flavors inspired by cultures from around the globe — all alongside live music, local makers, fresh finds and more. Have a wonderful day and enjoy!!!

Agate has long been associated with grounding, protection, stability, and inner strength. Brown agate is often connected with the earth, steadiness, and a feeling of being rooted, while red agate has traditionally symbolized courage, vitality, and determination. The tiny white drusy crystals bring a completely different quality to the stone—light, sparkle, and the reminder that even something earthy and weathered can hold unexpected brilliance within it.

Green kyanite is a stone formed under tremendous pressure, yet retaining an almost delicate, leaf-like appearance. What makes green kyanite special is that it generally doesn't look overly polished or manufactured. Even when cut or polished for jewelry, it often retains some of the character of the original crystal. Its fibrous or bladed inclusions can create a lovely shimmer as the stone moves in the light. It has a wonderful old-world, woodland quality—something between a mineral specimen and a piece of nature. These are sterling silver, 14kGF and the beautiful kyanite in a baguette cut. The market today offers up "Top Chef" a favorite of mine. Here is the Chattanooga Top Chef Schedule:
11am Competitor Introductions
11:30-12:00 Competitors Shop
12:15-2:15 Competitors Cookaround
2:30 Judges Announce the Winner
Good luck to all, lets see who gets "Top Chef" this year!

Kyanite is an aluminum silicate mineral that forms under high-pressure metamorphic conditions, usually in schist and other metamorphic rocks. It is famous for its unusual hardness: it has different hardnesses depending on the direction in which it is tested. Along its length it is relatively soft, around 4.5–5 on the Mohs scale, while across the crystal it can reach about 6–7. This directional hardness is one of kyanite's defining mineralogical characteristics.
Green kyanite is commonly associated with growth, renewal, balance, and connection to nature. Because green is traditionally linked with the heart and with the natural world, green kyanite is often interpreted as a stone of emotional healing, compassion, generosity, and opening oneself to change.
One particularly fitting aspect of its symbolism is its association with adaptability and finding balance. Kyanite forms in environments of considerable geological pressure, and its unusual crystal structure gives it different hardnesses in different directions. Modern crystal traditions sometimes turn that physical characteristic into a metaphor: remaining flexible without losing your essential nature.
Green kyanite is found in several places around the world, with notable material coming from Brazil, Nepal, India, Tanzania, and parts of the United States. Brazilian green kyanite is particularly appreciated for its translucent green blades and attractive natural formations.

Some things are meant to be found. "Trapped", takes you back to an untold story of survival and escape, the things we leave behind, the places that once sheltered us, and what becomes visible when we finally open the door and explore the world around us. This is a Shiva eye shell, the natural, protective calcareous "trapdoor" (operculum) of the Turban sea snail paired with a fine silver bail and accents of picture jasper. Celebrating Labor Day and the annual Food Truck Festival at the market today. Take the day relax, try some new cuisine and enjoy the "fruits of your labor". Just a note to say my shop will be closed until Friday, taking a short break!

The shell gets its name because its two sides look completely different, beautifully blending mathematics, biology, and spirituality. The Shiva Eye Shell, also known as the Pacific Cat's Eye, is not actually a standalone seashell, but rather the calcified "trap door" (operculum) of the Turban sea snail. Found in the tropical waters of Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia, this unique structure serves as a protective barrier that seals the snail inside its main shell to ward off predators. When the snail reaches the end of its natural life, the operculum detaches and sinks to the seabed, eventually washing ashore. Named after the Hindu deity Lord Shiva, the eye side symbolizes his Third Eye, which represents higher consciousness, universal wisdom, and the flow of life. Because it literally resembles an eye, it has been used for centuries across different cultures as a powerful talisman to ward off the "Evil Eye" and reflect negative energies away from the wearer. Historically dubbed "Mermaids' Money" by coastal folklore, it is considered a good luck charm for fishermen, sailors, and travelers.

Chocolate silk moonstone has that quiet “look twice” quality—from a distance it can appear simply warm and earthy, but when the light moves across it, the silky glow reveals itself. These are a little more of a taupe color than pink and they are gorgeous! Just a little something to make you feel even more amazing. Today the Chattanooga Market is celebrating "Team Spirit Day" a chance to get an early start on the upcoming sports season! Wear your favorite team colors and you will score 10% off at my booth! Have a fun day and get ready to cheer on the season!

Moonstone has traditionally been associated with the moon, intuition, femininity, cycles, and inner reflection. It has long been regarded as a stone of new beginnings and gentle transformation.
The chocolate-toned varieties add a more earthy symbolism. They are often associated with grounding, stability, warmth, comfort, and connection to the natural world. The combination makes an interesting contrast: moonstone's traditional connection to the mysterious and intuitive, with the brown coloring bringing it back to earth. Moonstone is a feldspar mineral, most commonly orthoclase or closely related feldspar varieties. Moonstone deposits are found in several parts of the world, including India, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Tanzania, and Myanmar. The silky appearance comes from the stone’s internal structure. In moonstone, tiny layers or inclusions within the feldspar create adularescence—that floating, almost glowing light that appears beneath the surface rather than simply reflecting off it.

"Bali Moon" a little bit of a departure for me but it's always good to branch out and try new things. This one is fine silver with Mother of Pearl as the center. I was really pleased with how it turned out and it sold last week when it was displayed for the first time so I guess it worked out well. The weather is a little better this week and hope to see everyone out and about. I know it's a little early but the holidays are right around the corner and it helps to start a bit early! I was really touched to see how many people came out last week as the heat was really brutal. Today should be much better so venture out, try something new and enjoy the summer!

Nacre, is the shiny, rainbow-colored inner layer of certain mollusk shells, such as pearl oysters, freshwater mussels, and abalones. It is the exact same material used to form pearls, but it lines the flat walls of the shell instead of growing in a round shape. Because mother of pearl (nacre) and the pearls born from it are bound together in the same shells, global cultures have woven them into shared legends of gods, tears, and protective magic.

"Summer Breeze" a nod to the clear blue skies of summer, warm sun and lazy days. There is something about turquoise that makes you think of places far away. Blue skies over mountains, ancient roads, prayer flags moving in the wind, and a landscape shaped by time. Tibetan turquoise has been treasured for centuries, and looking at a beautiful piece of it, it isn't difficult to understand why. Market trivia is the theme today, how much do you know about the market? A little warm but we will be in the shade so stop by and take a few guesses on the trivia board. Hope to see you, we will be taking things a little slow today after all it is the "lazy, hazy days of summer". Vintage jade has its own special appeal. Unlike newly fashioned jade jewelry, vintage jade carries a sense of history and time — a stone that has already had a life before becoming part of something new. Jade has long been associated with harmony, protection, balance, and good fortune, and its enduring green color naturally evokes growth and renewal.

Happy August! It signals that we are heading toward fall, a little cooler and a such a pretty season. Peridot is the August birthstone and these beautiful chartreuse green gemstones, set in a swirling sunburst texture have a beautiful play of light and color. Today we celebrate our local farmers, bringing fresh food, hard work and a healthy connection to our little blue planet. Stop by and pick up some fresh veggies, maybe a thick steak and top it off with a sweet treat. Love seeing you all every week, it's what make Chattanooga the place to be!
Check out these earrings in my shop here: https://stonelinkdesigns.etsy.com/listing/4543778984/peridot-sterling-silver-earrings-fine

Peridot is a vibrant, transparent gemstone prized for its signature yellowish-green color and rich history dating back over 4,000 years. Unlike many other gemstones that get their color from trace impurities, peridot is idiochromatic, meaning its vivid green hue comes directly from the iron within its own chemical structure. : The ancient Egyptians fiercely guarded the original mining site on Zabargad Island in the Red Sea. They dubbed peridot the "gem of the sun," believing it could glow in the dark and protect the wearer from nightmares and evil spirits. : Because of its lush green tone, peridot was frequently mistaken for emerald. Historians suspect that Cleopatra’s legendary emerald collection actually consisted of peridots, and the famous 200-carat "emeralds" adorning the Shrine of the Three Holy Kings in Germany's Cologne Cathedral are also peridots.
