1️⃣ Timing changes everything.
Summer brings long days and the most options for cruises, trains, hikes and scenic roads—but it’s also peak season. Late spring can mean spectacular waterfalls from snowmelt, while early fall brings fewer crowds and beautiful colors.
2️⃣ Don’t try to “see the fjords” in one day.
There are more than 1,000 fjords in Norway, and the famous ones—including Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord—offer very different experiences. A fjord cruise, scenic railway, village stay or hike can each reveal a completely different side of the landscape.
3️⃣ Build in time for the unexpected.
