Grade 1 gynecomastia does not need liposuction. It needs the gland removed.
Gynecomastia is graded, and the grade decides the operation. Grade 1 is glandular tissue with no excess fat behind it. Liposuction removes fat, so on a grade 1 chest there is nothing for it to take. The gland has to come out.
In the right patient that happens in the office under local anesthesia. You drive yourself in, you drive yourself home, and restrictions are minimal.
Higher grades change the plan. Once fat and loose skin are involved, liposuction and a wider correction come back in. That is what the consult sorts out.

DIM and gynecomastia. Here’s where guys get confused.
DIM is best used as a preventative tool, not a treatment. It can be helpful for men who naturally produce excess estrogen or want to better manage estrogen metabolism before breast tissue develops.

How long do you actually have to wear a compression garment after gynecomastia surgery?
This is one of the most common questions we hear after male chest reduction. Compression is not optional. It plays a major role in swelling control, contouring, and how your chest heals.
After gynecomastia surgery, you will wear your post-surgical compression vest 24 hours a day until your first post-op visit. You can remove it briefly to shower after 24–48 hours, but it should go right back on.
Most patients are instructed to wear an elastic compression garment for at least two weeks. Many choose to continue up to six weeks for added comfort, swelling control, and optimal contour.
