REDEFINING THE IDEA OF HOME
DISTINCT BY DESIGN

Scale before style. Proportion before palette. The way light hits a wall at 3pm versus 7am. Whether a room breathes or feels boxed in the second you walk through the door.

Most people notice the furniture. Designers notice everything that makes the furniture work.

Good design isn't more. It's more intentional.

Build your space for productivity. A space that inspires, not just holds a desk.

Sage green built-ins, plaid wallpaper, brass accents, and a leather chair that feels more like a reading room than a workspace.

Motivation isn't a mood board. It's a room built around how you actually think.

Everything that goes into a room feeling expensive:

It's not about spending more. It's about layering β€” texture against texture, a bold piece of art that earns its place, lighting that flatters instead of just illuminates, furniture with real weight and proportion instead of filler pieces.

"Expensive" isn't a price tag. It's every small decision adding up to something considered.

This. To this.

Stripped floors, exposed subfloor, black construction bags where a room used to be. Then: original architectural details brought back to life, arched niches filled with color and texture, a space that feels layered instead of empty.

This is what's actually behind every finished room you save for inspiration.

NYC, we're coming back! πŸ—½

I'm excited to represent M2 Design Lab as an ambassador for What's New, What's Next at New York Design Center and this year, we're celebrating something BIG: the 100th Anniversary Edition.

On September 17th, New York Design Center at 200 Lex will bring together some of the best in design for a full day of bold ideas, inspiring conversations, new product launches, and plenty of opportunities to connect with the people shaping what's next for our industry.

At M2 Design Lab, we're always looking forward to pushing ideas, embracing the unexpected, and finding new ways to create spaces with a distinct point of view. So being part of an event that celebrates where design has been and where it's going...feels especially fitting.

I can't wait to be back in NYC, reconnect with the design community, discover what's new, and celebrate 100 years of design with New York Design Center at 200 Lex.

Who else will be at WNWN? Drop a πŸ‘‹ below...I want to see you there!!!

Unfiltered with Marcus: The reality of HGTV.

Renovation shows compress months of work into a 30-minute reveal, and skip almost everything that actually matters: permitting delays, material lead times, the fifty small decisions that happen before demo day even starts.

Real design doesn't happen in a montage. It happens in the details no one puts on camera.

My worst nightmare, visualized.

We wanted to show what happens when every surface matches β€” same wood, same metal, zero variation. This is what "safe" actually looks like once you push it to the extreme.

"Just swap the hardware" doesn't stay simple. New hardware meant the cabinet finish underneath it suddenly looked dated by comparison. That meant reconsidering the finish β€” which meant the countertop pairing no longer worked either.

This is exactly why we plan up front and ask a lot of questions before a single decision gets made. It's not overthinking. It's making sure the "quick fix" doesn't turn into five unplanned ones.
