Great music, dance, fashion show, poetry, food and vendors, the Black and Bronze Music Festival featured an experience through the Black Metropolis exhibit narrated by students from Woodson Elementary School. Great job Principal Tamara Littlejohn. Congrats to Festival Producer Jessica Anderson and her team for bringing an excellent family friendly event to Armstrong Park! I want and need to clarify that the newly approved and announced $70 million Pete’s Grocer in Bronzeville, is and always has been led by my friend Zeb McLaurin and Ald. Pat Dowell. I am a cheerleader for all of my friends accomplishments big or small. I appreciate the love but this is not a P3/Phil Beckham project.

Finally!! 39th and State Pete’s Fresh Market was approved today by Chicago Plan Commission with a unanimous ”yes” vote. A hardware store, bank, medical building and restaurant are also part of this approximately $70M development on the southwest corner.

I had the honor to share the stage with civic leaders at the 2026 Chicago Transit Infrastructure and Aviation Summit, the conversation led by Will Follett of Bisnow made it clear that economic growth in one corner of our region fuels development everywhere else.
