Chicago Public Schools will receive millions of dollars in federal funding that was previously rescinded by the Trump administration after a legal dispute over the district’s policies supporting Black and transgender students.
The funding fight began after the U.S. Department of Education opened a civil rights investigation into CPS’s Black Student Success Plan, which was created to improve academic outcomes for Black students. The administration argued that certain policies violated civil rights protections.
CPS challenged the decision in court, arguing that the grants were terminated without proper notice or the required opportunity for a hearing.
A settlement agreement restored the funding, ending a months-long legal battle over federal education grants, civil rights enforcement, and the district’s student support programs.

Evelyn Booker and her seven siblings inherited land from their grandfather in Nakina, North Carolina — and the offers to buy have never stopped coming. 🖤Developers send letters and texts every single week, dangling big checks in front of the family. The answer has never changed. No. 🔥
“We’ve established that if anyone wants to sell their property, they will do so to a sibling and not an outsider,” Evelyn said firmly. 💪🏾
Their stand matters more than most people realize. By 1910, Black Americans had acquired a cumulative 16 million acres of rural land — but over the century that followed, 90% of that land was lost because of threats, violent force, or systematic rejection from programs offered to white landowners. 😤 The Booker family is part of a growing movement of Black families who are holding the line. Keeping the land. Protecting the legacy. 👑🖤 Every acre kept is a victory. Don’t sell. 🙌🏾
