As the Founder & CEO of Sunshine Management, Bonita Harrison’s journey began with a deep connection to Chicago’s South Side. Growing up in an underserved community, she witnessed the challenges facing neighborhoods—but she also saw their potential.

Inspired by her family’s journey during the Great Black Migration and their pursuit of homeownership, Bonita recognized real estate as a powerful tool to create lasting impact and strengthen communities.

What began with only one sold home grew into a mission to transform neighborhoods, create opportunities, and build generational wealth.

Today, Sunshine Management continues that mission, developing with purpose and investing in the future of communities with a proven track record of delivering meaningful impact.

New housing opportunities are moving forward in North Lawndale through Unity.

The development recently reached an important milestone with LISC Chicago's approval for financing, helping move this phase another step forward. The current phase will bring 5 multifamily buildings and 15 residences to the neighborhood, with each residence offering a 3-bedroom, 2-bath layout.

Designed around a multifamily ownership model, Unity creates flexibility for future owner-occupants who may choose to live in one residence while renting the others, creating the potential to generate rental income while building equity.

Through Unity, our work continues to expand quality housing and create new pathways to ownership and investment in North Lawndale.

September brought meaningful progress across our development pipeline. 🛠️🏘️

From two building permits issued for Robertson Rowe to LISC Chicago financing approval for Unity, September marked important steps forward for projects across Chicago. At Heritage Grove, 437 E. 42nd Place moved closer to completion, while construction at 428 E. 42nd Place advanced with footings and vertical framing in progress.

Each milestone represents another part of the development process moving forward, from financing and permitting to active construction and nearing completion.

As we enter a new month, we remain focused on carrying this momentum forward and creating quality housing opportunities that contribute to Chicago communities.

The latest progress at 437 E. 42nd Place has us excited because we’re nearing completion! With flooring installed, interiors approaching their final look, and exterior details coming together, this three-flat is giving us a clearer look at the vision becoming reality in Bronzeville.

Heritage Grove was developed with ownership and long-term opportunity in mind. For future homeowners, each three-flat offers the ability to live in one residence, rent the other two, and create a potential pathway to generating income and building equity.
