A dedicated IAOMS Session at ANZAOMS 2026

IAOMS leadership took center stage during the ANZAOMS 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a dedicated IAOMS session created as part of this year’s scientific program.

Co-chaired by Prof Rui Fernandes, IAOMS President, and Dr John Harrison, IAOMS Oceania Councillor, the session featured presentations from:

Dr Michael Alterman, Editor-in-Chief, Face to Face
A/Prof Jocelyn Shand, IAOMS Vice President
Prof Nardy Casap, IAOMS Member at Large

Prof Fernandes opened the session on behalf of IAOMS.

The dedicated session was a special addition to this year’s ANZAOMS program and reflected the strong presence of IAOMS leadership at the meeting, as well as the continued connection between IAOMS and the oral and maxillofacial surgery community across the world.

For the first time ever, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has created a dedicated oral and maxillofacial surgery team for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

And IAOMS members are part of it.
