Poetry can give young people a meaningful way to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with others.

With support from Millstone Fund, The Well expanded Mindful Poetry Moments into classrooms and community spaces across Greater Cincinnati. Through workshops, mentorship, and creative opportunities, participants explored poetry and mindfulness while developing their own voices. Student poems were also featured in a published anthology.

We are thankful for The Well’s work to make creative expression and the arts accessible to young people throughout our community.

A safe and healthy home can improve every part of a person’s well-being.

People Working Cooperatively provides critical home repairs and energy conservation services that help older adults, people with disabilities, and families remain safely and independently in their homes.

Through its Stronger Homes, Stronger Futures campaign, the organization is renovating a 70,000-square-foot Operations Center and expanding its Workforce Development Program. Participants receive paid classroom instruction and hands-on training in carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, and energy conservation.

Millstone Fund support will help expand classroom instruction, jobsite training, instructor capacity, tools, and materials. This investment will strengthen the region’s skilled-trades workforce while increasing the number of critical home repairs that prevent displacement, improve health outcomes, support aging in place, and create safer homes and stronger communities.

The Alpaugh Family Economics Center at UC helps equip educators and students with the tools needed to make sound financial decisions.

Through the Enhancing Financial Literacy to Empower Independence for Students with Disabilities grant, Millstone Fund supported professional development for K-8 educators and the use of $martPath All Access, a curriculum designed to make financial literacy instruction more accessible for diverse learners. This work helped teachers introduce concepts like budgeting, decision-making, and opportunity cost in practical, engaging ways that better support students with disabilities.

By strengthening educator confidence and expanding access to inclusive financial literacy instruction, this project is helping more students build skills that support independence and long-term success.

Every Child Succeeds works with families during pregnancy and the early years of a child’s life, a critical period for healthy development and long-term well-being.

Through the Helping Children Thrive from the Start grant, Millstone Fund is supporting Every Child Succeeds’ evidence-based home visiting program for families with low incomes across seven counties in Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky. Each family is paired with a trained family support specialist who meets with them regularly in their home or another preferred setting.

During these visits, families receive individualized support focused on healthy child development, positive parent-child relationships, early learning, developmental screenings, family well-being, and connections to additional early childhood and mental health resources.

By reaching families early, Every Child Succeeds helps address challenges before they become larger barriers and gives parents additional tools and support during some of the most important years of a child’s development.
