SHP was proud to bring that idea to life through the renovation of the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s headquarters. As an OHSAA sponsor and a firm with a studio dedicated to designing athletic environments, the project was a chance to create a workplace that feels unmistakably connected to Ohio sports.

What do you keep when you’re reimagining a school for the future?

For Lockland Local Schools, the answer was its history. Originally built in 1912, the K-12 school was thoughtfully renovated to preserve its historic character while creating flexible, modern learning environments for today’s students.

The result is a school that honors where Lockland has been while making room for where it’s going.

As Pickerington Local Schools responded to growing enrollment, Pickerington Central Junior High School became an opportunity to rethink what a junior high could be. The new school gives students opportunities to collaborate, create, experiment, and learn in different ways, with flexible spaces designed to support the way students learn today.

We heard these words one week ago at the grand opening of Lockland’s completed renovation project, and they’ve stuck with us. The celebration was a reminder of what makes this work so meaningful: these spaces become part of the story of a community, shaping generations of students who will one day shape the community themselves.
