It’s been such a joy to host another with , AND start teaching at this spring! So many laughs and happy memories when I look at this batch of photos from our recent activities, and I’m especially proud of all the first feis / tir na nog dancers who have taken the stage this spring. 💕
Make sure you watch part 1 if you haven’t already! And let me know if you want parts 3, 4, 5, and 6 🤣😩🤪
Had to finally weigh in on the “protein hype” as a NASM CPT who wants to help dancers as athletes 💪🏼
I thought it would be fun to share some of the reallyyyyy particular things that I care about as an Irish dance teacher, besides some of the usual ones like pointing your toes and turning your feet out. 💫 In this role you have to care A LOT about many really tiny things!
In part 2, I cover squats, lunges, abs, and a hip opener! Watch as my leggings get progressively more dusty from the floor. 😅 Because as we say in the business, “every exercise can be a low back exercise if you do it wrong enough.”
Just like with dancing itself, cross training also relies on proper form and technique. ✨ I tried to keep this simple and stick to 7 fundamental exercises so that as you build strength and start doing more advanced exercises, you’re keeping good basic form in mind! The seven exercises I think every dancer should know how to do properly are…
1. Glute bridge
2. Clamshell
3. Plank
4. Leg lift / low abs
5. Squats
6. Lunges
7. Pigeon stretch / hip opener

San Mateo’s newest dance studio, all made possible by the one and only Jackie Flynn. 🖤 I’m so lucky to be celebrating 2 years in the Bay Area this way. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this space absolutely spectacular, and to the dancers who make my dream job possible!

That’s a wrap for 2022 Oireachtas Season! 🥳 We sent 16 dancers from to the Western US regional qualifying event in San Francisco, and returned with lots of medals & memories. Congratulations to our two adult teams placing 5th & 7th, and our U8 and U10 teams placing 5th and 12th!
We had a sweep in the Adult Traditional Set comp, and our four dancers placed 1st, 2nd, and tied for 3rd!
Our championship soloists danced beautifully — Megan overcame an injury this season and performed two clean rounds on the big stage, and Julie finished 12th overall.
We finally got a chance to celebrate in the studio today, and above all we had a lot of fun. ✨
