from the shadows…
Chia chose Concept Four in my Spooky Photoshoot Roulette — a dark silhouetted cryptid. I made the antlers, eye light rig, and tail by hand. Everything you see in this is practical. I enhanced the eye shine in Adobe Lightroom with the radial gradient tool and edited everything from scratch.
This was inspired by Oswaldo Cepeda and his recent glowing eyes photoshoot, as well as some of his previous incredible works. He’s one of my favorite creatives, I’m always learning from his setups and feel so inspired to try new things!
I can’t wait to bring the rest of the series to life! This season is gonna be a blast!

Behind the scenes of our “The Machine Returns” vignette!
We filmed the entire thing in less than 5 hours, including all the setup, SFX makeup, and puppeteering. It’s always a blast working with Brian — this is my favorite short film I’ve ever made!
The video took about a week and a half to edit. Adding digital sparks, lighting changes, sound effects and foley, it was worth the time to make it perfect. I’ve been editing videos for over 15 years, no Ai here!

The uncanny valley makeup is a look I’ve been wanting to do for a while and I asked Julie if she’d be my model for this hilariously spooky shoot. The way we were both screaming and laughing was the best! It’s so effective and with her sclera lenses, the whole thing came together perfectly!

September self portraits! Almost missed this month, but I kept up with my challenge!
I wanted to do something dark and gothic but not yet spooky, so here’s something a little different — a comic-like noir/detective set. That second photo looks like a movie poster, what would my film be called?
My husband watched me shoot these and he was cheering me on, he loves how different they are from my previous self portraits! And I love them too!

Hi I’m Dani!
I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve re-introduced myself here. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I’ve been kind of inactive on social media this month unintentionally. But I’m BACK!
I’m a self-taught creative photographer and filmmaker of over 15 years, 6 years full time professionally! I’m a huge wrestling fan, movie buff, goofball, and all-around people person.
I’m 32 and married to the love of my life of 12 years and child-free by choice. I’m very excitable and can talk about my niche passions for hours. I laugh a lot, say a lot of puns, and can get along with just about anyone (I’m a Gemini).
When I create art, I want to create things that are different and out-of-the-box — the weirder the better! Ranging from fantasy to horror to action, I do it all. I was put on this earth to create.
My biggest creative strengths are directing, brainstorming, and editing. I can take an essentially nothing idea and transform it into a full concept. I also have an exceptionally good memory and I’m pretty sure I have synesthesia (and autism).
It’s almost my favorite photoshoot time of the year — SPOOKY SEASON!! Get ready for another round of the scariest, haunting, and wild concepts coming so soon!!
